After all the press last year my husband picked one of these up. Now the dust has settled do we need to bother for a trip in May? I say for sake of a fiver yes but husband thinks no. Hire firm never asked to see on last trip.

A law was introduced in Florida, USA, on 1 January 2013 requiring all persons who hold a licence issued outside of the US to carry an International Driving Permit along with their national driving licence.

For sake of £5 might as well.

As Tracy said, the law was repealed. An International Driving Permit is not needed.

Personally I wouldn't have got one last year when the farce was going on. 100% not needed now.
