Our first trip to Florida is on 26th September 2008 and we are staying on International Drive has anyone got any recommendations on great restaurants and places for breakfast ? We are not pancake and waffle fans.

there are lots of places, for breakfast alot of people will venture to sizzlers or ponderosa for a very cheap all you can eat buffet breakfast, some also like Golden Coral, though i have never been there. A nice table service breakfast can be found at Dennys, this is a more traditional american breakfast, with choice of eggs, bacon steak etc.
As for evening meals the choice is endless, my favourites are Tony romas, for ribs and steak and the Olive Garden, though you will get a long list i imagine from others, a great choice for lunch or dinner is Sweet Tomatoes, it is a buffet of salad (amazing choice) and fresh soups, it is great value.
I am sure more suggestions willbe forthcoming

We always stay on I-Drive+love the variety of places to eat.......
Breakfast.........
Golden Coral-we adore this place, you have never seen a(cheap) brekkie selction like it.Omelettes cooked to order, eggs how you want, bacon, sausage, mushrooms, cereals, rolls, pastries, the list is endless.

Denny's-they now offer a breakfast skillet-which looks yummy.

IHOP-(i know you said you're not pancake fan)but they do normal plated breakfasts.

Dinner............(endless choices)
Tony Romas-For ribs-especially on a Mon Night-eat as much as you want.

Bahama Breeze-hubby loves the salmon+i love the steak+cocktails.

Chilli's-amazing fajita's+margarita's.

Houlihans-Great steaks+french onion soup.

Golden Coral-amazing cheap dinner buffet-something for everyone,steaks,chicken,salmon,tuna,pots,veg,pizza,salad,ice cream,cakes

Denny's-we love there burger's+shakes(if you have children-they eat free on a Tues night).

TGI Fridays-the norm that you get here, but it always tastes better there.

Ming Court-Lovely chinese food.

Have a look on the websites for these places,so you can see the menu's,prices etc..you will be spoilt for choice on I-Drive.Also pick up the coupon booklets outside diner's+shops for vouchers for money off a lot of places on I-Drive.x.

Do you know where on I-Drive you are staying?

It is quite a long road (a few miles at least) so depending on where you will depend on what restaurants are close to you, especially if you don't fancy driving. Although some chains have a few outlets scattered along I-Drive.

There is the I-Ride trolley that runs the whole length of I-Drive so all restaurants are reachable, although it is not a quick mode of transport!

We loved Sweet Tomatoes - the salad choice was amazing

Cici's Pizza was also good for a cheap lunch :thumbsup2

We used the coupons that Snowygirl recommended - managed to save between 10 - 25% for lots of our meals :woohoo:

If you're in a rush, 7-eleven opposite Quality Inn International (7600) do a cracking egg or Sausage & egg muffin to go for 99c! :teeth:

was wondering if you could advise me who to plan my holiday with, want a cheap one because they all seem so dear, been searching for hours and still.. nothing :confused3

Personally, I would give Ponderosa's a swerve.
We really enjoyed Friendly's for breakfast.
For dinner, Tony Roma's was good, as was "It Rocks" (if you like cars and bikes :thumbsup2 )

Cheers,

Sizzlers on I-Drive for us over Ponderosa any time but discovered Golden Corral on our last trip - fabaroony - if you want a steak tho they don't do them every night, more Mexican this night, Chicken next night, then another night and stuff so was different.

Cheesecake Factory in Mall at Millenia for a treat - and some take out Cheesecake as well - heaven!!

Body Swerve for Wild Jack's - dry steak with a baked potato and nothing else at all, no garnish or anything and it was $20!!!!

Wow doesn't look like there will be a shortage lol, we are staying at the Econo Lodge Inn & Suites. Will definately try out the Golden Coral, I have done some checking and interested in finding out what a Blooming Onion is like or just plain bad for the breath

It was the same for us we are on a budget and not a giant one :rotfl: We booked our accommodation through Holiday Rooms Direct their website is holidayroomsdirect.com. They had great prices which was a relief. Just be prepared to check the internet if find one you like to find out more information on the hotel. Most hotels have their own websites.

We paid separately for our flight, we decided that 9 hours flying means comfort is a must and to be honest the cost difference between a good carrier like Virgin Airlines and one slightly cheaper may be £100 but if you can afford it then believe me it makes a difference, a little extra leg room, comfortable seats and our meals were included as well plus it was a direct flight. Some cheaper flights tend to go UK to Amsterdam then to USA so even longer.

We are big fans of Denny's for breakfast. Table service and very obliging. Prompt service and reasonably priced. Never had a bad breakfast there and never really needed to have lunch only a snack like popcorn!

Hiya -
love Perkins for breakfast!!! Best pancakes in town - PLUS they do all sorts of omelettes, eggs, hash browns...yummm.

Never understood the US "biscuits and gravy" though..... kind of like scones with white goop...:rotfl:

Panera bread does some great breakfast offerings as well as through the day.

Hiya

There is a gourmet McDonalds at the junction of Sandlake road and I drive.

Don't snear at McD's, this is a goumet outlet with a short order chef and items that you will not find in a regular McDs. They give you one of those vibrating light boxes when you place your gourmet order.

We eat here two or three times each trip. I love all the Mexican wraps that they do and my son loves the fresh baked pizza

Dennys.
IHOP.
Golden Corral (try the evening buffet also) the carrot cake was gorgeus.
Ponderosa (Always a good favourite buffet meal).
MC'ds we enjoyed the odd Sausage and egg muffin.Yum.

We didnt enjoy Cici's pizza sadly it just wasnt for us.

Pizza hut is also on idrive (I love the meaty marinara pasta meal).
Sizzlers - Never tried.
Chequers - For burgers so on.
TGI Fridays try the soups my oh my LUSH! :goodvibes

Theres plenty of places to eat,to suit all tastes and requests :goodvibes

oooh thanks all for your replies plenty to choose from :thumbsup2 :thumbsup2

im pretty sure Econo Lodge Inn & Suites was called{best weston last year}and thats where we stayed ,lots of resturants within walking distance.

tony roma s is a must -burgers steaks and ribs:thumbsup2

friendlys - good food and good selection- they are both cheap and right next to your hotel

tgi friday - great food -over the road

pizza hut and sizzler are 5 minutes walk and good food

Ponderosa was very poor ,it seems to me that it has gone down hill over the last few years ,but its very cheap and 2 minutes away

Golden Corral is about 5 minutes in car,but its well worth the visit-cheap and loads of choice

Oh thanks richtomas I think it was called Best Western.

Will check those places out but we are not hiring a car :sad2:

you have bus stop over the rd and it only costs $1 and this will take you down the other end of international drive and there are loads of other places to eat

My household liked Perkins. I remember the one on International Drive and Sand Hill Road. They are apparently pretty well known for their muffins. My husband loved the blueberry muffins.
