We will be staying offsite during an upcoming January trip at 7600 International Drive. The hotel offers a free shuttle service to the Universal parks, but I was wondering whether the parks can be reached by foot safely.

From Google maps, it looks as though Universal Blvd has a sidewalk along the entire stretch that I would be walking, but I don't know about crossing Hollywood Way.

It is only a party of 2 adults, so there wouldn't be any children making the walk.

Thanks.

It can be done, but that is a long walk. You're going to be walking plenty in the parks so I'd recommend taking the shuttle, which will only be about a 5 minute trip. Also, although there are often pedestrians along International Drive personally I wouldn't feel particularly safe walking there at night.

Wow thats going to be a long walk. By the time you get to universal you will be to tired to walk around in the parks.

Have you ever thought about staying on kirkman road? Theres two hotels directly across from universal. Still not a short walk but its not as bad. Its a 10-15 min walk.

Or free shuttles or use a cab.....

We stay on I drive every time we go. I feel like that would be a long walk, especially on the hot days. We usually book a hotel that has a shutttle or call a cab. Last Oct. it cost us about 7-8 (2 ppl in cab) dollars from the corner of kirkman and I drive. If you do walk it let us now how it goes.

If your hotel was on International Drive but a little closer to the Wet n Wild area the walk shouldn't be too bad, even the hotels like the Hyatt Place and Holiday Inn across from Kirkman rd the walk is doable.Your hotel is closer to Sand lake rd making it a decent amount further, from that area I would estimate it would probably take at least 30-40 minutes walking if not more.I would look into getting a shuttle to the parks if your hotel has one or at least grab the I-Ride Trolley to Universal blvd and International Drive so the walk isn't as much.Does anyone know why that I-Ride Trolley doesn't go into Universal,it pretty much goes everywhere else from the Vineland Premium outlets at the southern portion of I-Drive to the Premium outlets I-Drive location at the north end of I-Drive.

We do this. From Wet 'n' Wild, it's 10 mins to the parking lot - about 1 mile flat walk - & about 20-25 mins to actually through the turnstiles and hit the park (but you'd have to walk that regardless). It's an easy walk. If you're struggling, you can take the Lynx bus (8 or 42) up and down I-Drive to Wet 'n' Wild for $2 or the I-Rude trolley for even less. But seriously, it's less than 2 miles from your hotel each way so unless you have real mobility issues, you'll be fine. Have fun!!

I have done that walk tons of times and it is fine. I prefer it to the shuttle as the shuttle has taken me an hour before as it often has to go to many other hotels to pick people up before actually going to Universal. If you time it right, you could also get the Lynx 37 from I-Drive near Universal Boulevard into Universal.
