On another thread the candy bar Flake from England popped up as a favorite. Many raved about it, so much so that now I have to try one. It got me to wondering. What other great international snacks and candies have I been missing? Anyone know of any great ones that you go out of your way to get that are not to be missed? Doesn't matter if they are at Disney or not. If you have pictures that is a plus (the Flake pic is what sold me).

I look forward to the yummy suggestions.

I guess mine are mostly from Germany - everyone seems to enjoy Milka, and if they have the Kindereggs (I don't remember for sure) that's the funnest way to eat it. My favorites from there are the Haribo gummy bears and raspberries. I also used to buy Marzipan from the Mexico pavilion, but haven't in quite awhile...don't know if that's still offered. I'm not much help, I guess, but I'll bump it back to the top.

I love Kindereggs. It's a shame the FDA won't let them be sold in the US since they have non-edible stuff inside. : (

I love waffleton cookies from Germany. I can get them around here occasionally but when we go to Epcot I buy a bag of them for us to snack on. I love German chocolates and candies.:thumbsup2

I have a funny story about those German Haribou gummy bears:

My co-worker spent part of her childhood in Germany because her father was in the military. We had a conversation one day about these terrific gummy bears she remembered from when she lived there...I had never heard of them before. Well, the next time I was in Disney, and went to the Germany pavilion, I saw those particular gummies and was excited to buy her a package. She was thrilled to get them and said they brought back lots of memories for her! WELL....a little while later, I was in a local Walgreen's store and there they were....for about $3 less per bag! It was hysterical because I had never even heard of this brand before, and here it was right in the local drugstore!! We still get a chuckle about having to travel 1500 miles to WDW to spend $4 on a bag of German gummies that were already available in the local drugstore for $.99!! :dance3:

So now it's become a humerous tradition that each WDW trip, we hit the Germany pavillion and MUST purchase at least one bag of Haribou Gold gummy bears! :thumbsup2

During my three weeks in Australia years back I was introduced to the Violet Crumble...and ate many of them! It's a very popular candy bar in Australia and still one of my favorites. It's a very crisp honeycomb enrobed in milk chocolate. In the last few years I've seen them more and more often at grocery stores and specialty stores in America.

Some say the texture is similar to those astronaut ice cream bars and I can see the comparison, but I don't like those ice cream bars and I love these! :confused3

Oh, I love Flakes! I found a store in my hometown that sells them. My aunt (from England) used to buy them for me all the time when I was a little girl.

Flakes are awesome! :thumbsup2 When I was little my Grandma (who lived in England) used to send me a package every Christmas that always included an assortment of sweets. The Flakes were my absolute favorite and still are.

I can get them locally at our Whole Foods store and sometimes other places as well, so now my DS16 and DD6 love them too!

Aero bars in England but Hi-Chew and gummies in Japan. I can't fine the Aero anywhere here but our oriental markets sell the Hi-Chew and gummies.

They used to have Aero's in our Whole Foods, not sure if they still do.

Japan has the wackiest candy. My favorites are the Hi-Chews especially the mango flavor and the Morinaga( I think that's what they're called) that have little pieces of baking soda inside of them and you feel a gassy pop when you chew them.

They are like a super skinny crackery breadstick dipped in chocolate or strawberry. They are awesome! A pack of these will disappear in seconds with my family.

I like those HIT cookies in Germany. It's like a flakey biscuit-like cookie (looks like a Ritz) with a creamy chocolate center....a sandwich cookie.

I used to see them at my local Jewel (standard Grocety store) but havent seen them for years.

I've been finding several of the candies that they sell in the UK, France and Canada at Target....for about 1/4 the cost!

Another vote for Pocky from Japan--don't let the name put you off, they're yummy!

Flakes, Aero, Terry's Chocolate Orange, and Violet Crumble are my favorites. YUM to all! The only ones I can get around here are terry's Chocolate Orange and Violet Crumble.

Are you my long lost sister? I've loved Milka since I was a little girl! (lived in Germany for a while) And Haribo gummy bears..... YUM! :upsidedow
