Internal struggle regarding adding on small Poly

Since I don't need extra points at this moment, the obvious answer is that I should wait. However, my inner Veruca wants it now. Ideally, I would add 70 points, but that would involve financing. I could add 25 right now and then add another 25 or so in about 8 months without financing, but then I'll be paying closing costs several times and that might negate any benefit to paying cash.

Other issue is that I am on the fence about adding VGC direct. I'm in the process of my resale contract. It passed ROFR, but are there times when a contract passes and the sale is still never completed? I don't trust anything until it's actually in my account. I'm also very impatient and will pull the plug if there are any unexpected delays on the closing date. It's almost June and @AstroBlasters predicts that I will be contacted by my guide to purchase VGC direct in June (my use year). If that becomes an option, I'll want the Poly money for that.

What puts me on the fence about VGC is obviously the cost. If I use those points for WDW or Aulani, it feels like a bad use of the points. VGC is a 90 mile drive or a nice train ride away for me. It's definitely the place I will mostly stay at. That said, my waitlists come through fairly often and with it being so close, it's easy to grab a room here and there.

After all this blabbing, I guess I am looking for clarity on if I should make my inner Veruca happy or if I should let everything else ride for now. Typing it out makes it super obvious, but I think I need replies to keep coming in to keep me in check. 😛🤣

I think your going through what I did which is feeling restless because your vgc hasn't closed yet and it takes forever and the stress of whether it will close successfully or not makes us just want to throw in the towel and get points NOW lol. I did ease that by buying another contract 🤣🤣 BUT i really did need the points to complete an upcoming trip.

You've fought hard for this vgc, been ROFR'ed before and now you're almost at the finish line on that! The chances of the seller taking it that far and then backing out is slim, I've never heard about it on here even though im sure its happened before, but there will be a penalty for them. If they're dragging their feet, usually threatening to pull out does the trick to get them going, they won't want to lose money im sure.

How are you going to feel if you buy Poly and your guide does call with those direct vgc points in June? If it wont affect you and you want points, go for it. If it will make you feel some type of way, then I wouldnt buy Poly. That would be my answer 😀

I'm having a really hard time with the cost of VGC TBH. I would be happy with a small direct contract, but I have seen a few pass ROFR recently and every time I see it, the $$ savings stands out to me. I'd like more direct points for booking Lakeshore and Riviera, but Poly direct would also work for that.

Im having this struggle too in a different way because we decided to buy direct next year and I really like Riviera from what i see, but I want to buy poly for the no restrictions if we need to sell. But then I think well if I get blocked out of riv rooms I want in the future bcuz I didnt have 11 month priority im going to be pissed.

My point is, I dont think we will ever be fully 100% satisfied with the resort we choose sometimes because another one may have something else we want. That's why I decided to stay at both and if I like poly and riv I will go for poly regardless of higher price. If I like riv a lot more than poly then its riv. I will only buy when i can responsibly afford the one I like better.

This is obviously me struggling with price too because direct is so much more expensive, but I've done my little experiment with resale, seeing how I feel as a resale only, how the lounges, discounts etc are implemented, how being a renter and selling extra resale points to staying where I want is a pita because I cant control the reservation and stalk, that person can still cancel etc. OTUP will only get me a studio and I want a 1 and 2 bedroom option.

I came to the conclusion that the benefits I will get from owning one direct outweighs the cost in the end over so many years. Do you think the cost of owning more vgc will outweigh what you're going to get from owning at poly?

If you are concerning VGC direct, be aware that they don’t always even have the points to sell you so that is something.

If it were me, and I decided to get it, I’d get as many up to what you want if they have them.

With the Disney Visa, you can get 6 months with 0% interest in a direct purchase.

You can do 60 days to spread it out which ends up getting you close to 8 months to pay it off!

We did this and it worked great!!

I haven't been able to think clearly about that. The truth is, at my age and point in life, it's time to enjoy life right now vs thinking about the future. What I love about VGC is that it'll always be easy for me to get there. I don't enjoy flying and flying is expensive. If I look at it like that, buying VGC, even with long term financing is the right choice. Sadly, I don't think I can afford resale. Buying resale pushes me to adding on direct. 🤣 And it sounds like booking the older rooms at Poly are somewhat easy at 7 months. It's too soon to know about the one bedrooms.

PIT has been crazyyyy impossible to book at 6 months. But I know that also has to do it with being new and not fully declared.

I was able to book two longhouses six months out before I changed it to PIT 1 bedroom with some pixie dust help. I couldnt have done that myself.

Piecing together the poly at 6 months wasnt easy, but not impossible. I dont have experience at 7 months to tell you, but im pretty sure its not hard to get like pit and vgc

This has been the plan. My guide checks for the inventory every day for me and I specifically got the Disney Visa to help with the purchase. It's not enough if the contract is for more than 70 points, though. She sent me the financing info because I told her I would have to finance if a larger contract came up. Maybe I will slow my roll and give my guide a call next week to discuss how likely it'll even be available.
