We got a new grocery store near us so I decided to give it a try today.

Something very odd happened, actually pretty cool!

I got to the frozen food aisle and all of the lights in the coolers were off. Hmmm As I walked down the aisle sensors detected my presence and the lights came on! :cool1:

Pretty cool way of saving energy!

And before you ask, yes I did walk down the aisle more than once for fun!:rotfl2:

Several Publix and Super Wal Marts that I go to have that feature. I think you aren't the only one that has done that. :) :)

Sounds like a great idea. :thumbsup2

But I wonder: As a migraine sufferer blinking lights cause me great stress...If the store were crowded would the lights go mad?

The Publix closest to us has that in their frozen food section too.

They don't blink or "flash" Rosie. They come on (like an outdoor light on a sensor). Does that make sense?

Yes, thanks. I just thought if a lot of people passed it would go on and off...but I guess it would stay on for awhile when it sensed a lot of motion.

Yes Rosie, that seems to be the way they work.

However, thanks to this thread, I won't be able to walk down the frozen food aisle again without a private giggle! LOL
