Interior design ideas needed

Hi.
We're building a 24x24 addition onto our house. It's a two car garage attached, with a great room above.

The problem is, my DW and I have no interior design skills at all. Are there any Web sites, magazines or a book you'd recommend?

I did a search online, but I don't know where to begin. We want to make the room above into a living room area. The only thing we know is we're going to have a fireplace. We're not even sure if it's going to be in the corner or along a flat wall.

We need to start deciding what we're going to do, and we're both clueless.

Aren't there all kinds of home decorating magazines out there? House Beautiful? See if there is a home show coming out in your town that you could attend. Or....go visit some new model homes to get some ideas. This way you can actually see a finished project & see if it would fit your needs/wants!

What styles do you like? Are you more of a traditional person? Do you like contemporary styles? What does the rest of your house look like?


You should probahly sit down and go through magazines together and see if there are a few styles you can agree on.
