I walk my dog (Bouvier) on a gravel road that runs through farm fields and a bird sanctuary. It is a lovely spot and I can let the dog off his leash. Today as we were on our way back a coyote starts yipping at us and trying to lure Dexter out. He wasn't even paying attention. I put him on his leash immediately and we kept walking. The coyote started following us and paralleling us and hurling abuse at the dog - I think I heard something about a sissy haircut and your momma- but Dexter being the high minded individual that he is just ignored him. He puffed up briefly but then decided it wasn't worth the effort. I'm just glad I didn't take my Fox Terrier with me today - he won't put up that stuff :rotfl:

I took a picture with my cell and will try to post it.

WOW ! I want to say that sounded so cute!! Am glad you both are ok :) Please post pics :) I want to see....

:scared1:

Does this happen often?

You certainly had a great attitude about it and so calm......I don't know if I could have done that. Walk would have turned into run!!!!!

I have to admit to getting a little nervous as it was paralleling us, but it just jumped up onto a large hay bale and watched us walk away. I've never seen one get that close and be that bold before though. We have a couple of packs around the town, you can hear them yowling at night.

I would back the Bouv against a coyote as well.

Unfortunately the picture didn't turn out very well, it was too far away.
