First off not sure how reliable this site is, some have said very reliable. That in the past this site has been spot on.

But I do find the current Gossip interesting as if it comes true it will definitely affect DVC members.

If the rumor about the Polynesian is true then that will be the chance DVC needs to get in and build DVC rooms.

Very interesting article and again: It is Rumor! Not Fact! but interesting nonetheless.

Interesting, but how reliable has it been in the past?

A quick perusal from the oldest blogs (2007) said that GMR would soon lose the aliens.

Guess time will tell....thanks for posting.

The site and posting was shared on the DIS podcast forum. Some say the site is very reliable.

As you said time will tell. If the changes to Studio entrance comes to pass, guess we will have some insight into reliability.

Of course with all things Disney it could be accurate today and wrong next week, like Eagle Pines developement that did not happen.

But usually these types of rumors mean someone is talking about it.

Wow, they are speaking "matter of factly" regarding the Grand Floridian becoming a DVC. Also, very interesting rumor regarding the Poly. Where does this site get their information from :confused3

That's been my thinking for years--that they should just build new.

The biggest argument against a Poly DVC is always lack of space. They don't need to put up 13-story towers but certainly there are better ways to make use of that land while still retaining the theme, charm and location of the current Poly. Asbestos issues aside, there's only so much they can do to put new paint on the pig as time goes on. DVC villas could easily fund a wholesale re-build of nearly the entire resort--a resort that's state-of-the-art.

I really hope the Fort Wilderness DVC comes to pass. I would really like that.

As to the site, as I said it was shared on the Podcast forum. Only time will tell if any of this is fact.

And of course discussions could be going on and still not come to pass.

I loved the comment:
Disney has no idea how long they'll be able to ride the DVC wave, but they plan to ride it to the shore (and probably a bit into town).

:lmao:

I have to believe though due to the age of the Polynesian there is asbestos there.

I find this one funny:

I think this is a good thing logistically for most guests arriving by car; but it will make the EPCOT resorts slightly less desirable as they won't be right across the street from DHS anymore (still available via footpath or boat however). It will make the All Stars, Art of Animation, and Pop Century much more desirable in terms of their short hop from Osceola Pkwy to both DAK and DHS.

Yes, because people will choose a Value resort over a Deluxe resort just because of change in a road...

it comes from disney transportation bus drivers..:rotfl2:

Maybe the poly will be rebuilt as a stand alone DVC resort!...hmmmm:)

The one flaw I saw in that article was that they assumed OKW and SSR would take up the slack from the Poly being taken off the CRO roster for awhile. That's not likely, since it would depend on how many of us OKW owners trade out to the Disney collection, wouldn't it?

Another function of the Art of Animation coming online, is that the extra capacity will allow Disney to close down parts of the Polynesian hotel for a long needed upgrade

How many guests who booked a POLY stay, or are planning on booking a POLY stay, would consider AoA as their second choice?

If sales at BLT were slower Disney might have been able to use rooms built but not yet turned over to DVC for displaced POLY guests.

I wonder what it would take to expand POLY (DVC section) into part of the TTC. Move the ferry dock?

That was my thinking too. I don't think anyone who booked the Poly would be happy at a value instead. It seems Disney thinks DVC and rooms that sleep more ..is the future..so perhaps Poly becoming DVC is not just a pipe dream...i'll bet there would be a big call for renting the villas through CRO and we all know it would be a big hit through DVC sales!

This is what I don't get. How many people are just going to accept that they made a reservation at the Poly and are now being moved to OKW or SSR? I just don't see that going over well. Poly to CR, BLT, or GF, ok maybe but from a monorail resort to a DTD resort? I do hope they are correct about the Fort Wilderness DVC. DH grew up spending his WDW trips here and would just love this.

I can't imagine them tearing down the entire Polynesian at once. I could see them tearing part down and building a DVC, like they did at the Contemporary. It will also probably be planned far enough in advance so that they don't take reservations that will need to be moved.

I agree. The issue would be if the noise, and asbestos abatement issues, required closing a significant portion of the resort at once. Actually if those issues required completely closing the main building for renovation then Disney could decide to close the entire resort.

I wonder if the entire resort would be setup as DVC.

I could see the Poly being torn down and come back as a shared use property, like BW Inn and Villas.

They need alot of expensive infrastructure at the Poly in order to keep up. What better way to fund it than with OPM:goodvibes
