What are your thoughts about this!!!!
As an aside i always wondered about who lives in these two made up disney cities on their property and maybe its me but found it weird that only 20 families live in these cities and they live in trailers(i guess it saves on rent, maybe i could retire here if a agree to vote in the way the mouse tells me too lol)

This is a very weird case! The article stated that she wanted to buy a house but she must have wanted an enormous house!

I wonder too who gets to live in these cities. Does anyone know?

I could be mistaken, but I believe that residents of these areas are hand picked by Disney. In order to maintain independent local government there has to be a certain number of actual residents within the property district.

The cities of Bay Lake and Lake Buena Vista, each with only 10 residences, were created so Disney could raise bonds to develop its 30,000 acres of theme parks, resorts and land in Orange and Osceola counties.
All of the answers to these questions are summed up above.

The reason for the cities is there but not the method Disney uses to pick its residents. I wonder if there is a way to apply? ;)

Some one mentioned the term "independant" which IMHO is the furthest thing disney would want and is why they hand pick 10 people/FAMILIES who will allow disney to vote on ANYTHING within their property!!!
I read a interesting book from i think a author from fimland on the reedy creek district but it didnt go into this part of the arrangement.

By independent I meant Disney themselves vs. local county government. The people having been chosen by Disney - would then also be controlled by Disney. I can't remember where I read that version, it made sense at the time though.

Keeping Lake Buena Vista from becoming a "real" town where people vote is one reason Disney was very careful in the wording of the DVC contracts. No one is allowed to ever claim DVC as a permanent residence.
