Interesting read...

If this article is true (and it seems to be so) then I think that all good DIS'ers should immediately e-mail those on his list and express their concern.

I for one, if nothing happens within 3 months (enough time to negotiate a retirement for Mr. R) will then consider that Eisner has lost control and will be joining DVC's carpool.

I will continue to visit yearly or every other year because I still love the parks but will no longer support current management. So it will be free-season for bashing by any one who wants to without comment from me.

Well, I keep complaining that Disney doesn't WOW me anymore. They sure did this time. WOW!!!

This is the way Chicago used to do business. Even we aren't as arrogant about it anymore. It may still go on in corners of City government sometimes, but if someone blows a whistle, someone goes to jail! We're at least that honest!! ;)

If true, this is worse than I thought. You not only have gross mismanagement, you also have malfeasance, cronyism and corporate cover-ups!

Thanks for the link wdwguide!

Well, it seems credible enough. I just kept thinking as I read it, "Is there another side to this? How long have the investigators been working on the case? (all he says is "many months). Is this guy just angry that he lost his contract & making things up?"

It may just be taking longer than he wants. I wish I knew of some way to verify this, since I hate the idea of sending letters, calls, etc off when I'm wrong. Do any of our insiders have any way of verifying this?

I agree Sarangel. I've seen investigations drag on and on for YEARS. And in the end - BAM! a conviction. And if I were in his place, and everything is as he says, I know I'd be pretty P.O.ed! So we do need to take some time with this one and find out all we can. I just don't want to discount and dismiss it right off the bat, simply because it lacks corroboration.

I think it's one of those things you file in the back of your head for future reference.

I think if you go back and take a look at the quality and quanity of musical entertainment at Epcot a few years ago (compared to what's currently offered there now) to me it gives his story more credability. I'm not saying his every word is exactly what happened there (as we have no way of verifying what really went on in this situation) but it does make one wonder what's going on with their entertainment situation at the parks in the last couple of years.

What I would like to know is what were the stated grounds of the threatened lawsuit against Disney? What did that letter say? I guess Mr. Rodriguez's boss (whoever he/she is) doesn't get in on those types of decisions. Also, how do you suddenly void a contract? Does Nova Era have a copy of a signed contract? If so, they should go after Disney.

I got 2 words for ya FUTURE CORPS (that's what the F.C. in F.C. FAN stands for):bounce:

But to be serious not just the loss of Future Corps (who btw had been there since the begining), World Class Brass, and a few of the groups that played in the World Showcase.
When you opened the old park maps there was barely enough room to fit in all the different live entertainment.

I also shouldn't have limited my post earlier to just musical entertainment it applies to any kind of performer at the parks.

Try checking out this page's archive section and that's just some of the acts that are gone from Epcot.

It's kind of hard to explain to you, I'm a local, and I had visited a couple of the parks 100's of times ,but most of the attractions and rides don't hold the specialness to me that they do to you and most of the other people on the board (don't get me wrong some of the attractions and rides I never got bored of), but what was really special to me was getting to watch the live entertainment and getting to know some of the entertainers themselves.

So to me for Disney to get rid of these people for no reason other than certain members in managemnet (when there was clearly large groups of people enjoying their various talents of the performers).

It kind of leaves a bad taste in your mouth when personal aquaintnces and friends get shafted.

As I've stated before I know I'm in the minority on this issue, but at least I practice what I preach. My family and I don't continue to contribute to the theme park part of Disney.

BTW you can't imagine how it's killing me not to be able to see Blast at Epcot (since i'm a major a major drum corps fan) At the same time I also know it's by my own choice:D

you're right Gcurling, if they signed a contract, then there must be obligations on the part of Disney that aren't being fullfilled.

Landbaron, how long did it take to get betty Loren-Maltese? I don't think Chicago, NO, My parents lived two blocks from Tony Acardo, so I have done a little mob research I KNOW, that chicago is as bad as ever. they just hide it better and know when to sacrifice someone. What I don't understand is why Burbank employees would give a rat's behind about some seedy lowlevel executive. this isn't Mikey doing this, its a nobody. So I don't buy that they're brushing it under the rug
