Interesting possible reason why Genie has been delayed at DL

Disney doesn’t care. Just like they don’t care that their IT systems constantly glitch. Or that it can take hours to talk to a person on the phone.

If WiFi isn’t working they figure you will use your data. If that isn’t working they figure you will keep walking until you find a spot it will.

They just. Don’t. Care.

They care about us immensely in one department -- finance! They want our money.

I am curious if we know that it has been "delayed" at DL? Maybe they deliberately rolled it out at one park first? They are updating the signage throughout the parks so who knows if it's necessarily delayed or going according to Disney's plan?

If I remember correctly, I think it was always mentioned that it would debut at WDW first with DLR soon to follow. How soon is soon though? Soon to me means a couple of weeks, not a couple of months.

I don't remember them saying they would debut at different times initially. That language appeared ONLY when they officially announced the debut date for Genie+ at WDW.

According to several guest relations CMs, they were supposed to debut simultaneously.

I'm also wondering if they might have accelerated the rollout at WDW - there was some chatter about the sign shop being overwhelmed having to manufacture the Lightning Lane signage on a short deadline (and, in some cases, putting out some questionable temporary versions).

I ran into that at Tokyo Disneyland Resort. Couldn't make dining reservations not because of spotty wifi, but because it was only for Japan residents. It really was a bummer.

Ran into similar issues in Shanghai. At the time at least you needed to be able to get text messages. Even with a SIM card that worked for calls and data we were unable to get texts. Asking CMs for help was hit or miss... one day we found one willing to help us get the app activated for that day, but the next they kept saying no (which makes sense, they were their personal cell phones). I can't remember now why we had to activate it daily to be honest, but I remember being quite butt hurt about it. :rolleyes1

This whole wifi thing is such a pain when coming from overseas.

If your mobile phone provider can do a decent overseas data rate, go for that instead if you can. In the UK, Three tend to be the best provider if you do a lot of travelling. Data can last for up to a couple of months.

For folks traveling, you should also look into eSIM options if your phone is capable. You can essentially sign up for a service that would provide service in your destination country for a pretty decent price. I just looked for US options and I saw some that offered 3GB of data for 30 days for $20. Should be enough for Disneyland.

I just want the option to ride attractions Multiple Times with LL.
Since DLR had MaxPass I am hoping it is included.

That's one way to do it... I personally moved my US service onto my eSIM and leave the physical port for country-specific SIM cards as I travel (not like I'm doing much of that today, lol).
