I was on the Disney Magic in January, and there was a Disney Imagineer who gave a presentation in the Buena Vista theater regarding the new Art of Animation Resort (across the lake from Pop Century). After the presentation, I asked her about any future plans for River Country and Discovery Island. She paused, and smiled, and said she could not discuss either of those closed attractions. It was quite obvious that she knew something, but she just told me to "stay tuned".

That's interesting Big Jon.

Couple that with the drawings release last year to move the TCD Ranch/barn up to the check-in area of the Fort and to move the Mickey's BBQ Pavilion from behind HDDR/Trails End to between the Settlement Trading Post and the beach, and the DVC rumor that after Disney got the Grand Floridian DVC going (which it is now) they would turn their attention to the land between Wilderness Lodge and Fort Wilderness, and it sounds like something is DEFINITELY going to happen.

There's a lot of smoke here. Hope some fire shows up.

Thanks man! popcorn::

There were blueprints posted on this site about a year ago showing the Dvc to be build in the RC area.

Thanks, we'll keep our ears open.

If they are going DVC we will buy for sure! We were think in the next couple years we would be finically sound enough to go ahead and this would push me over the edge! :goodvibes

Later rumor says that with the addition going in around the Grand Floridian any work around the Fort will be a long way off...except maybe for relocating the BBQ Pavilion.

To keep the points flowing something will need to be started in the way of another DVC by mid 2013. It could be Poly, but my bet is River Country, so when they begin the poly tear down they will have lot of alternate deluxe rooms for guests.

What Poly teardown Bookwormed? Are they going to be doing a large scale refurb? Sorry if this is already answered somewhere else.

That it the current rumor, that large portion of poly will be taken down and rebuilt. With the rate at which deferred maintenance has been increasing at poly if has significant credibility. There is also talk of including a DVC section.

That could very well be. They did tear down the North Garden Tower of the Contemporary to build Bay Lake Towers.

They are adding on (so-to-speak) to the Grand Floridian with its new DVC buildings under construction now.

I wouldn't be surprised.

So I'm confused or maybe just thick in the head. Are you all speculating on a Ft. Wilderness DVC with RV sites (as opposed to cabins) or some other DVC popping up where River Country was? Or just an expansion of the current Ft. Wilderness RV sites?

Years ago when we were DVC members, the cast member who sold us DVC told us that there were plans to have a DVC property at Ft. Wilderness for RVers. It never materialized while we owned our shares (obviously.).

As of now the only "plans" are for a DVC where river county was. There are certainly speculative wishes that DVC would offer campsites as an extension of the new project, but there has been nothing to indicate that DVC is even thinking about that possibility.

Best guesses right now are that the DVC will be 400-600 2br equivelents so that would be quite large (3 to 5 times the size of VWL), which equates to 10 to 15 million points, or 1.5 billion to 2.25 billion for a project who's construction costs are likely to be around .7 to 1 billion

Thanks for the info bookwormed!
