Interesting MIB experience

Well, I went to USF and IOA Sunday for a few hours on my own. I race in Auto-x every month, and my pass expires soon, so I figured, what the heck.

I got a great Ice Cream Soda from Schwab's (These are GREAT!) and headed over to MIB.

I went through the single riders line which now joins the main line where it breaks off to the main boarding room.

I got on with a family of 4, and we moved forward a little bit, then it stopped for about 5 minutes. All the employees were standing right beside me, but I couldn't make out what they were saying other than the occassional "What's wrong?". We finally got moving after another 5 minutes...

(SPOILER)

We got to the point where they say "It's an Ambush" and the ride stopped. All the aliens disappeared except for one which was hanging on a clothesline above us. We sat there, and I noticed our scores disappeared, so I commented to the father of the family who was sitting next to me that I hoped we didn't lose our score.

10 minutes pass and we hear the technical difficulties speel. Our scores were reset, and we were off again. :( The other car was too far ahead of us to hit, so I kept hitting aliens, and we got to the big one, the ride stopped again for a minute, then continued.

We went past where Agent "J" tells you your score, which didn't work, and we got to the place where you see if you get your MIB uniform. We stopped again for about 15 minutes. Meanwhile the other side's alien opens without any movement, and closes again, and our scores are still showing, so we're shooting at whatever's available, EXIT signs, the "tailor", and anything shiny.

I even checked out the tip of the "gun" to see how it works. I figured out that even if you don't hit anything after every 10 or so seconds you do get a score (of 250 pts). I guess that's so people with terrible aim don't get a 0 score. We moved toward the end of the ride, and waited another 10 minutes to get off. It was definitely interesting, and the family didn't complain one bit, though I saw someone in a car in front of us talking to 5 employees about how upset she was. Ugh.

I would've gotten back on if I thought they had fixed the problems they were having but they obviously weren't.

This is probably the first time I've seen a ride break down in a long time, in any park I've been to.

Hmmm... I was there Sunday as well. We went on about 2pm and everything seemed to be working well. Would have been interesting to see though......

Jim

I got on at about 5:30 PM.

And why are the parks closing at 7:00PM at this time of season?

After the scores were reset, I was able to muster a 15,250. I don't think the "red button" was working since that's about the same time the ride stopped again (the second time)

Bummer Chris,

Did they ever turn the lights on? I was on MIB once when it stopped and it was cool to see everything in the "light"!

Nope, they didn't turn the lights on, but it wasn't hard to see. In a way it was cool to be able to stop and see all the detail.
