Ok....while waiting for the bus to MK just now, the CM working the bus stop said that starting at some point, within the next week.....BW will have its own bus to Ak and MK! The DTD bus will continue to be a shared route!
Also....they are testing an app that mimics those bus stop arrival boards we have seen. Do we should be able to sit in our room and see when the bus we want us arriving at the stop!

I'll let you all know what transpires over the next few days!!

Oh, Happy Day!

But they can forget the app - I'd rather they just install the same type of displays that they have over at the Jambo and Kidani bus stops

I would like to see the app. I was at BWV 3 weeks ago, my room was at the far end by Jellyrolls. So I had the choice of walking all the way to the BW stop or take the steps and walk over to the Swan. Of course, I made the wrong choice both times I did it. The first time I went to the BW stop, just missed the bus, could have caught it at the Swan if I went that way instead. The second time, I went to the Swan, just missed it, the next bus went Swan-Dolphin-Boardwalk.

Great news! The app sounds great, especially given how many times we have just missed a bus we could have made had we left the room just two minutes earlier!

Many people here have asked why there is no app for bus arrivals....we shall get to see how it shakes out. Wish I was going to be here to see. Same with the new bus route. But, I leave BW tomorrow and head to Kidani for a few nights.

I'm hoping this starts before next weekend when I get to the BW! I only use the bus for MK as we take our rental car everywhere else. Hopefully, someone can confirm this before the end of the week.

Did they offer any timeframe when the app will start testing? Is it only testing at BW? We'll be at OKW in Jan and would love an app to know when we should be expecting the next bus.
We spent one night (pre-cruise) at SSR in Sept and since Epcot had EMH that night, we decided to cram some park time in. We waited at the bus stop at least 30 mins. Every other park bus came by. The bus to DTD came 3x. If we had an app to know the next pick up was 30 mins away, we could have just rested in our room, unpacked a little.
I think it's a great idea! Gotta love technology! :thumbsup2

OK, these are the changes that have been announced to Transportation cast, all effective next Monday, 11/17:

  1. In the morning only, for MK only, there will be separate buses for BW, and for Swan/Dolphin. Currently those 3 resorts share the same run, although recently we have been alternating the stop order, with some buses starting at BW and finishing at Dolphin, and others starting at Swan and finishing at BW. No change has been announced for afternoon and evening.
  2. Late afternoons and evenings only, DTD buses will split the Epcot resorts the same as the theme parks do: one bus for BW/Swan/Dolphin, another for YC/BC. Currently, DTD buses usually stop at all 5 Epcot resorts.
  3. Afternoons & evenings, DHS buses will have a separate bus for FtW, and 2 additional buses each serving 2 of the MK resorts, including WL. That's the same as DTD & AK. Morning buses to DHS already run this way, but after 11 a.m, DHS currently has one bus for FtW & WL, and another serves all 3 of the remaining MK resorts.
No change has been announced for AK buses to the Epcot resorts, so the greeter either misread the announcement, or heard something as yet unofficial.

When I talk about a "separate bus", I of course mean a separate route. Buses are generally not assigned to specific routes; they are dispatched as they become available.

As always, extra buses may be dispatched to handle demand, which may make additional stops or follow altered routes.

Good news is there are new managers of bus operations and transportation overall, and they seem to be actively looking for ways to improve service.

Thanks for the info! I was just saying to someone that I did not have to stand on a bus on my trip Oct 18-24. Probably part luck because some of the busses did have standees. This should help.

This is great news. It seems they are already getting on top of things.
