Interesting/Fun Cities to take Teens

I agree about Toronto. Great city with lots to do. And it has the Hockey Hall of Fame, which your family would love. Would be a long drive from Florida though.

Indeed. We drove from Tampa to Lewisburg, PA to Niagara Falls (Canadian side) once. We also drive Tampa to Detroit on occasion. I hate the long drive but it is less expensive with 4. It use to be 6 before the older boys graduated high school.

I absolutely cringe when I hear people say "they would NEVER go to ________". The anxiety people have about cities is pathetic. I heard so much crap before I entered high school about how I'd be violently attacked and wouldn't learn anything that I was shaking in my shoes. Not only did nothing violent happen to me, I loved my high school and thrived there. Now I'm married to a man from the sticks so we compromised on a suburb to raise our kids. I can tell you that while city schools have their challenges, I didn't have to stress about some of the stupid (mostly materialistic) stuff my own kids stress about.

Back to the topic, lol! My kids can't get enough of NYC and Washington DC. A few times we've gone to DC, we've staying in Old Town Alexandra which is a cool place itself.

Well, I havent done everything there is to do in Tampa or any other town I “lived in.” My comment was relative to things we would be interested in. Tourist never “do everything there is to do.”

There's actually very little for a tourist to do in NYC . . . after you eliminate the Statue of Liberty, Ellis Island, the Empire State Building, the Intrepid, the Metropolitan Museum of Art (which, granted, you could probably walk through the whole thing in like an hour if you ignored all the art), the Museum of Modern Art, the Cooper Hewitt Design Museum, the Whitney, the Neue Gallery, the Brooklyn Museum, the Bronx Zoo, the New York Botanical Garden, Wall Street, the Circle Line, the Brooklyn Botanical Garden, the Guggenheim, the Frick, 9/11 Memorial, the High Line, Broadway shows, zillions of restaurants, Chinatown, and about 300,000 other things I haven't listed here. Interestingly, even a few people who live here do some of these things.
