Interesting e-mail from guide

I received a nasty e-mail from a guide when I asked a few questions about closing costs and use year. My main concern was getting a June use year and if I could get 2010 points banked. He basically told me that I had no idea what I'm talking about and that if I wait I will pay more. He actually said that waiting is a good idea if I'm happy with paying more money. I just wanted a few answers and I was very polite in our correspondence.

My wife and I are basically ready to buy, but are we locked into this guide? There is no way this guy is getting my sale. I would rather throw my money away.

Any input is appreciated.

By the way, he did mention that he will be available when I'm ready - ha ha.

You can call DVC and ask to change guides. We didn't like our guide very much. I called and got someone else who was happy to answer all of our questions. We didn't officially change guides, but if we add on, we'll go through this guide instead.

Typically, DVC Guides do not email clients, so that alone is something unusual I would say. Plus, responding in a negative manner is not usually the case.

That being said, I see you posted on the DIS last July regarding purchasing DVC and then just this past January you posted about an email you received regarding a Resale. So, I am going to guess that perhaps your DVC Guide saw this and has now perhaps "given up"?

An experienced Guide would not do any of the above that I just described, so you may have a newer one.

I would suggest calling DVC and just ask to be reassigned. But be aware, that if you are contacting the Guide with questions, but intend to purchase resale and post about it, your Guide's responses may not be the most "charming" shall we say. They are sales people, some better than others.

Good luck to you!

Call the Sales Center, ask for a Manager, explain what happened and ask for a different Guide.

:earsboy: Bill

Just buy resale and save yourself the money and you won't have to worry about the guide.

We called and talked to a DLR sales guide. We did not give him my email address. He followed up with an email to the one I have on our account and we've corresponded a few times. So I would say email -wise--it may depend on the guide.

As mentioned, you can change your guide with a simple phone call. I hate communicating in emails, IM's, texts, etc. So much can be misinterpreted and misread...without voice inflictions, etc...jokes can be taken the wrong way or an attitude can be perceived where it was not intended.

But, your guide is absolutely right about waiting will just cost you more money. Prices have gone up since you first started looking and I think there is a rumor of another price increase. As for receiving 2010 points, etc if you are eligible to receive them, they will bank them for you. Again, if you want some detailed answers on that type of stuff, I would recommend a phone call instead of email.

Sounds like he was giving you facts, which you took as 'nasty' tone.

Not true - I didn't feel like posting the entire e-mail, but he was being very sarcastic with his responses. I know this because I'm great at sarcasm - ask my wife. :cool1:

Anyway, I was more concerned about getting information on changing my guide, not who is right or wrong.

I would report to Disney that you want a new guide and that the guide should not be selling for Disney.

I would forward the email to DVC Member Satisfaction and ask if that's how they think members should be treated.

Just call them and tell them you want a new guide. (period) No muss, no fuss you want a new guide. You do not need to give a reason or an explanation of any kind. Good luck, there is a thread around here from about a year ago where everybody posted about their guides. Get a couple names and see who still works there.
