So today, I get to school expecting to finish up my midterms (I have 2 more to take). 1st period went ok (not as boring as usual LOL.) Then on my way to second, I look out the window and it looks like a blizzard! I seriosly wondered where all this snow came from as we haven't had ANY snow at all this winter and there was no snow this morning. There was so much that I thought we would get an early dismissal. Then I go to 3rd period and they were talking about a bomb threat. We went on "lockdown" for 5 minutes, then they decided to move us to 4th period, which is also lunch for some people. They had us there for about 15 minutes and called in the search dogs. Then they made an announcement and told us to go to our lockers and get our coats and then evacuate the building. So the entire school was standing in the parking lot, about 10 feet from the building. What that will do if the school blows up, I will never know. Eventually we moved into the lower half of the parking lot. Seniors that drive to school got in their cars to keep warm (keep in mind the blizzard-like conditions mentioned earlier). Everyone stood outside for about half an hour waiting. Then they herded us like cattle (not just my opinion, everyone around us was saying it too) back into the school and put the entire student body into the gym. Again, what that would do, I will never know. 2 hours after this whole thing started, our principal talked to us a little bit (not really saying what happened, though) and told us that midterms were cancelled for today (woohoo I guess) and he said "The question is where do we go for the rest of the day" Everybody got all excited that we were going to go home until he said "We can't be selfish about this, so we have to go back to class and be on a normal schedule." Well it wasn't really that normal being that we were supposed to have midterms 5th and 6th periods, so those teachers didn't have anything planned and half the students left anyways. So that whole ordeal ended with us going back to 4th period for about 20 minutes then spending 30 minutes in each class after that.
Did anybody else have an interesting day? Also, how do you think our school handled the situation? They decided it wasn't a "credible threat", but I don't know if the handled that great. It's over and done with now and my friends and I personally got a laugh out of how they handled this (there have been other situations in the past that we thought were handled in a slightly humorous way, lots of stories bout that. lol.), so I'm not panicked and I wasn't then (except for the 2 minutes of mass chaos when we didn't know where to go after they made the announcement to evacuate). Just curious as to what yall thought.
