Interesting Conversations

There is no such thing as a stranger at DW. You start with a smile and if it is returned you can find something in common with anyone and then you can share experiences that you might not have ever thought of before.

I do not collect pins but I can remember just about every single conversation I have had with 'strangers' at DW and many of my dear cyber friends are people I met just that way. :thumbsup2

The only downside is that when there is an awful happening somewhere in the world I now have more people to worry about. :grouphug:

Sit on a bench and smile and see what I mean.

Slightly Goofy

My most memorable was on the bus from Magic Kingdom. There was a young girl on the bus in a wheelchair and obviously severely handicapped. My DD, then about 3, asked what was wrong with her, before I had a chance to respond her mom said that when she was a little girl she did not always make her wear her seatbelt, and that they were in an accident and she was hurt (I am crying as a type this, I do every time I think about it). She then turned to me and said she hoped I didn't mind her talking to my DD about this, but she felt that the more people she told, the more she could help. She proceeded to tell my DD that that is why Mommy always makes her where a seat belt. For years after that when Emily didn't want to put on her belt she would remember "that little girl at Disney World" and put it on.

We chatted to an elderly couple while waiting for the boat at POR. They told us that they don't go to any parks. They spend their whole vacation hopping from resort to resort, experiencing each one!

My mom loves to talk to anyone and everyone--

so we were on a family vacation to Hawaii a few years ago--

it was my parents and brother, sister and their families and of couse DH me and our 2 kids

we were at a luau and my mom is talking to a guy in the buffet line so my DS gets back to the table he says to my dad

grandpa theres some old guy trying to pick up grandma!!!!!!! :rotfl:

god that was funny

This past summer while staying at the pop century i was in the laundry room and a group of girls/guys from Turkey was trying to figure out how to do there laundry. So i helped them out, but not touching there laundry. They were very nice, but there was only one who spoke good english the others didn't say to much.

In early October 2001 we were in a character line at the Studios and there was a family from England behind us. Since it was right after 9/11 emotions were still high. I turned to them and thanked them for their country's support of us since 9/11 and their repsonse was "Of course, we are in this together". Really made me tear up.

Since I'm quite outgoing (probably why I'm in sales) I strike up TONS of conversations with people everywhere I go. I know I've had many interesting conversations over the years at DW but I can't remember them all. I do remember being there in August this year for my b-day and waiting for the monorail at the Contemporary. A little boy and his mother were also waiting (I had my two boys and wife with me). We started chatting. Turns out the woman's husband works for NASA helping to get the shuttle ready for launches and stuff. Since I'm quite the geek I was asking her all kinds of questions. Too bad the husband was working!

Always great to strike up conversations with people. It's also amazing how often you come across the same family over and over while at DW... :)

my favorite conversation took place with a CM at that store in Epcot where they sell all the animation art (I'm having a mental block about the name). My DD7 was entranced by the artist drawing various cartoon figures so I struck up a conversation with the CM at the register. I noticed her tag said she was from NY and I said "I grew up in NY -- in Manhattan" and she said "so did I, where did you live?" I told her and she said "I used to go to school right there" she said the name of the school, and sure enough, its the same school my sister and I went to. It turned out she was a few years older so we weren't there at the same time but she says "you might have known my little brother" she tells me his name and I start laughing. Not only did I know her brother but he and my sister dated for two years.

It really is a small world.

On our first trip in 1993, we were an uneven group, so my mom ended up sitting with a couple on the airplane on the way down to WDW. Well, my dad was waiting to hear back from a job that would be a huge change of life for all of us if he got it. My mom, being nervous about the job and about flying just chatted away with this couple the whole way to Florida. Wouldn't you know we were all staying at the Carribean Beach.

The day my dad found out that he got the job we ran into this couple and their kids in the food court. They were so excited about my dad's job that the lady gave him a hug! It was too funny that our new "friends" were just as excited as we were for him. :)

The best conversation wasn't really one at all. We were stuck in Ellen's nightmare. The vehicles had stalled. They turned on the lights and apologized and told us we could take pictures, etc.

While we were waiting, my DS who was about 3 at the time, turned around with his Simba doll and was "talking" to the little boy behind us. The problem was, we speak English and his family spoke Spanish. So the only word they shared in common during their entire "conversation" was "Simba."

It was so cute to see them just both talking and talking and pointing to Simba. It was like both of them were bilingual.

Really is a small world after all.

We took the bus over, played 18holes, had drinks came back to the hotel - it was fun. The fellow and I had a nice talk - he was from New Jersey I was from Toronto, it didn't work out LOL

Also, my husband wouldn't have been thrilled.

Anyway, the conversation we had was a little ackward as we knew what the girls were up to, they already had a plan to be sisters.

You know what they say.........what happens at Disney, stays at Disney....lol.

Funny story.
