I just spoke to my guide, I called b/c we have been looking for a resale contract of less than 100 points with our UY at BCV and keep coming up entry. I was curious about pricing and if they had availability direct. I know I'm spending more than I have to but I really want an exact point total/UY and after many months of looking, I'm starting to think there is some value in getting this over with.

I brought up GFV, she said the price for BLT is going up to $160 on the 24th of this month and, she thinks, this is in anticipation of GFV starting at "at least" $160.
I asked when they are going to start selling, she said she didn't know but suspected it would be very soon as they recently were told to start putting names on a waitlist (don't know how recent, and I realize they probably say this to build a buzz).

I said $160 was quite high, she agreed (sort of) but said it's a logical price point to assume when you pair it with the BLT increase forthcoming. I think many here have thought the BLT increases were to lessen the blow for GFV; it appears that is going to be the case.

Just curious but can you tell me what BCV points are selling for direct from Disney? I would love to start adding on some small BCV contracts. I think $160 for BLT is outrageous! They are really pushing people to the resale market.

Direct from Disney BCV is $115 pp with a 160 point minimum buy-in for new buyers.

For an add-on it's $115 pp for a 25 point minimum.

This is what I was told. She also had to check if there were any available for my UY. Turns out there are (April), but they are waitlisted for points for Oct/Nov/Dec (pretty sure that's what she said).

Now comes the annoying process of deciding if I want to spend extra money just to get this over with in a nice, easy 10 minute phone call. For 50-75 points in my same UY, considering how hard that is going to be via resale, I might not have a choice.

FL timeshare laws prevent them from selling until a certain percentage of the building is complete. I believe that number is around 75%.

That Disney is contemplating selling for 160.00 per point when resale market is averaging what ? around 70.00. I have a feeling this discrepancy between Disney and Resale might have the long term effect of pushing the "Home Resort is the only resort you can access" agenda...think about it.

I don't think it's 75%. I know with AKV they converted the Jambo rooms before Kidani was built in order to start selling and it's been speculated that with GFV they will do the same by converting suites in the main building. I know there is a certain percentage they have to have available, but doubt it's 75% because Im quite sure the Jambo DVC villas don't comprise that large a percentage of Kidani.

Or is it going to push the "home resort is the only resort you want to access because of how much you invested"? I can't see too many people spending $160 on GFV points and not using them exclusively at GFV. So maybe instead of creating a tier, they are letting costs dictate this tier; they know it will be virtually impossible to get into GFV because owners will keep it full (remember, there are only going to be 147 units). So this will be exclusionary by design. I think the fact that any BLT points are selling for anything close to $155 bodes very well for GFV. Remember, BLT is 295 units and it is relatively difficult to get into. So GFV will be a place that is virtually impossible to get into. I don't think this will have a major affect on the other properties. I think we'll see an occasional thread here on the DIS with the title, "I got GVF at the 7 month window!".

I found it much easier to just contact
The resale companies tell them what I wanted
and for my price range and I got
A call within a couple of weeks with
A deal. No problem and better price
Than direct.

I bet it will be difficult to get peak times even if you own there!!:sad2:

I also have been looking at buying direct for BCV. My use year is February and the small point resales go very quickly or are not available at all. Many of the resales I have seen are 200+ points which I don't need. Just want some points for a few days during Food and Wine and/or Flower and Garden every couple of years. We own at SSR and love staying there for longer vacations, but want an Epcot resort for some stays. Still looking for the right contract but will probably go direct due to ease of getting them and my other points were bought direct with no regrets.

I just bought 50 points direct for BCV. (And FINALLY got to add BCV to my signature! :goodvibes ) I searched the TSS website frquently for a similar contract but as other posters mentioned, it is tough to find your UY (ours is Dec) in a smaller contract. If they do pop up, they are often under contract within minutes.

I was on the BCV waitlist about a year ago for over 3 months and finally gave up and bought some points at BWV. I couldn't get the idea of BCV out of my mind, though, so went on the waitlist last week and within 3 days my points showed up! Neither my guide or I could believe they came so fast. I had also inquired once last fall and they were readily available but I think waitlists are the norm, especially for certain UY.

I am on the wait list for GFV and I have talked to my guide a couple times already and I didn't get the feeling from him that the initial offer to members would be that high. Who knows though, I guess we have to wait and see. My guess is they will start selling by end of May. I have heard May a couple of times now for the GFV.

I am going to hold out and see what the price is, but if it is $160 or north of that I am probably going to have to walk away and wait for resale. Won't be easy because I have my heart set on GFV, but better judgement will prevail (my wife). That is just to high in my opinion. Would probably go BCV for an add on for the time being.

We have 200 BCV points, just need 50-75 more and can't get hold of a small resale contract. I agree, I don't need even 150 and that's all I see--150 and up.

I think she mentioned a waitlist for December points. My UY is April, I feel like I never see an April resale. I debate the merits of having to have the same UY (especially since we aren't talking a ton of points and only 2 contracts to manage), so theoretically I would probably jump on anything that fit the point total I want if it came up via resale. I look all the time, but still miss out and don't see them until they are pending sales. I think the extra cost of direct in this case has it's merits; my time has to be worth something, and I've been looking for a long time.

I don't think any of the guides know. But if they are going to start in May, it makes sense that a 4/24 increase at BLT would come a few weeks before. They want the $160 price out there already before they start GFV. Now, they could always do some sort of introductory offer, say $150 to start for a certain number of points, but even that is debatable b/c I think they believe the size is going to allow them to sell out rather quickly.
I would be somewhat surprised if the initial offer was less than $150. It's going to be very interesting. I love the property, but would not personally spend the money b/c we are thrilled with BCV and really only go once a year. At some point down the road we will hope to squeeze in, I can see it as the kind of place where a lot of people will do split stays and grab 2-3 days at GFV just b/c it's available.

I also wonder if there will be any sort of monorail upgrade at some point. With BLT, now GFV, there is a taxing load on a monorail system that is already in dire need of a major overhaul. As it is, there are often complaints of abbreviated schedules, system problems and breakdowns. There are many who believe that a change will need to be made in order to satisfy the transportation needs of all these people. The system was not really designed to handle all these stops and people, as currently constituted.

That price seems crazy high. I don't think I could buy direct with how high direct is going. i got my original contracts under $100 per point and I thought it was a good amount.

My use year for BCV is available for direct sale, so if I can't find a small resale by September, direct is the way I will be going.

I am still going to wait and hope for a dvc resort in the poly. (My DW favorite resort)

That being said, I have to wonder are the new resorts (GFV and what ever they are calling the camp fort wilderness DVC) just opening up rooms at the lesser resorts like SSR, OKW and AKL.

When I would look to see what is avail for a summer week the only resorts avail are SSR, OKW and AKL.

I have to wonder what will happen when you have open room after open room at the lessor requested resorts.

What will happen to the price of points for resale?

Very happy I decided to buy BLT instead of AKL

I know there is a certain percentage they have to have available, but doubt it's 75% because Im quite sure the Jambo DVC villas don't comprise that large a percentage of Kidani.

When Jambo was marketed, only jambo units were used in the percentage computation. Kidani is a separate project and separate deeds.

Disney had trouble keeping AKL full, (too far from everything) so giving up space to DVD was a no brainier. GF is a different resort that doesn't have a booking problem so unless giving up real estate makes financial sense for early sales, I doubt that GF rooms will be converted.

:earsboy: Bill

That's just aggravating. I'd like to add on 25-50 more BLT points but $160?!
Outrageous.

All of our points are pre-March, 2011 so no restrictions. Hesitant to buy resale because who knows what "changes" may come on those. But at $90 resale and $160 direct... geeze...

Not sure I would use the term "lesser resorts" or even "lessor requested resorts" (sic). They are the three largest resorts, so it is not surprising that they would have more availability. We don't own at SSR, but loved our stay there. We do own AKV and always love our stays there. This summer we will be staying at OKW for the first time and I can't wait as I have wanted to stay there since before we bought in. Of course I look forward to staying at BLT, BCV, BWV, and GFV someday too.
