Interesting anomaly in AK June hours

Alright, I confess! Now that I'm down to the "teens" I have reached the point of obsessing over the upcoming WDW trip. I was checking out the park hours (sorry, no link) at WDW website and noticed that hours for AK were the same for every day of June (9-5), EXCEPT the second week of June (9-6). That must mean more crowds expected that week. And is so, longer hours at other parks. Any other conclusions or guesses? Is there something special going on at AK that week?

I'd say that's a good deduction. That's about the time more schools are out, so there will probably be more crowds that week.

I believe that is Gay & Lesbian week so the crowds might be larger than usual - I may be wrong.

Isn't AK celebrating it's 5th anniversary in June? Maybe they extended hours the first full week so accomodate the celebration.

Gay week is over on June 8 I believe. I don't think that has anything to do with the extended hour. www.gayday.com says that it starts June 5 with the "big" day being June 7.

That's excellent news! The June month was ALL 9-5 just last week, so it looks like they are already bumping up the hours. The last two weeks in June will obviously be more crowded than the second week so I wouldn't be surprised to see those two weeks move to a 9-6 or even a 9-7 (like it was over Spring Break) schedule.

As for the fifth anniversary, that was actually last month -- April 22nd actually. It's when they "officially" announced Expedition Everest.

Based on the MK hours, I would say that they have only made the update for the first half of June. That would explain the second half hours being shorter at the AK.

BTW, Gay and Lesbian week is the first week in June, not the second.
