Interesting American Idol article

Excellent article! You should post this link on the American Idol running thread too. It's bound to get some people all worked up.:o

Great article!

I watch for the very first time about a month ago and liked it. The next week Pinky got voted off instead of the majority of the others who sang off key. I haven't watched since. I stated before that I believe the majority of voters are teenage girls so a female is going to have a hard time winning. I found listening to most performances to be very painful. Most were off key. I was shocked that with only 10 people left so many could not sing.

Great article! ::yes:: I totally agree with the opinion of that columnist, but I doubt they'll change how things are done.

thank you for the link....good article and I agree.... the way of voting needs to be changed

Voting should change to one vote per phone line, and definitely NOT voting against someone. Like I said before if they made it that way, Clay and Ruben wouldn't have been anywhere near the top 2 last year. The Ruben fans would be voting off Clay and the Clay fans would have been voting off Ruben, to get rid of the competition. I can guarantee you that if they changed to voting against someone, Fantasia and George would probably be gone very soon (which actually wouldn't be such a bad thing:teeth: ), but it's still not the fair way to do it.

All I can say to that article is...HALLELUJAH, AMEN!!! (Even though I am a fan of JS. Not because he's young or "cute" but because I like his voice and his style and I would buy his album - isn't that what counts?)

Didn't we already discuss this article?

I believe that since AI is, in fact, only a television show, the producers can do as they please. It is entertainment. Sure the results would be different if everyone was only allowed one vote, but the results would also be different if everyone in America was forced to watch and vote. Reality shows like this only appeal to a certain portion of the population and so the voting is naturally skewed.

Great article it bears repeating!

I have to agree with ShuisFan584, like certain other reality shows the stronger competitors will be voted off to make sure that their guy wins. Then the one who is the LEAST of a threat makes it through till the end.

I saw this debacle happen on another not as well known reality show, the House of Dreams. It involved a group of people who built a house in Florida from scratch and voted off people each show. There was a homeless Dad, two single parents, family people, a woman who wanted it for her Mom, a teacher who was giving it to a needy student, etc. Everyone got all hung up on voting off the people who really NEEDED the house that it went to a Harvard grad JUGGLER from NY who admitted she'd never call it home and would probably sell it....

AI would go down the same road, IMO.
