interested in transfer points

we have a 100 point contract at the poly use yr in aug
we like staying a full week but unfortunately that uses 125 points
so far weve been able to bank points and use them for the following year
but in 2027 well be short a few points I think like 15 points

so just wondering how this transfer option goes
so would I be able to have another owner transfer points to me to use
how this is different then from renting points
really arent interested in buying another contract just to fill in tyring to keep costs down

I would also be interested in possibly renting points to add up to want I need for a weeks stay

I know this is a long way off but time goes so fast
please let me know how this works

If you want to book with your points plus buying some from another owner you would need to transfer them in and if you want the 11 month booking window they would need to be Poly points. I very rarely see Poly points available for transfer on the one website I look at. Maybe the boards have more Poly transfers available. You could also use one of the rental sites and see if you can rent a reservation for either the whole trip (save your points) or just a day or two to complete your week.

The other thing you could look at is one time use (OTU) points. Disney will sell you up to 24 points per year, currently they're $20/pt, they may increase by 2027. They also don't have a home resort advantage, so you'd have to book part of your vacation and then the rest at 7 months. (It may also have to be a split stay as 11 month reservations can't be extended at 7 months with non home points)

I answered part of your question above in the other thread where you asked:

When an owner transfers points to you, those points are placed in a temporary contract in your membership. You control those points, remembering they maintain their home resort and UY.

When you rent, you’re renting a reservation from an owner. That reservation is under control of that owner until you check in - they can cancel or modify it, you cannot. If you have requests for room location, etc., they have to submit those requests to MS. If you want to buy the Dining Plan, they have to call MS to buy it, and they have to pay for it with gift card or credit card numbers that you give them.

If you want a transfer, I’d look at the DISboards DVC Rent/Transfer forum and find a Poly owner. However, as above any transferred points would retain their UY, so it’s too early to actually get a transfer from anyone as you’d need to be sure the UY of the points you transfer in makes them usable for the dates of your trip.

I’d be tempted to just buy a 25 point add on contract when Poly2 goes on sale, assuming the minimum add on will be 25 points, to solve the running a few points short every couple of years problem .
