While I'm interested in doing a dessert party, primarily for the view, my husband thinks it's a huge waste because he can't have any of the desserts due to his diabetes. Are there alternative food choices for diabetics? Kind of wish it were an appetizer party instead of sweets...

Also, specific to the Star Wars dessert party, is it possible to bring desserts to the viewing area, or is that not allowed?

Thanks for your input.

I don't know about carrying the desserts out to the viewing area, but when we did the Star Wars party, they did encourage us to take a drink. Of course, this was June of 16 so it may have changed. I am also a diabetic and I found plenty of fruit and cheese and crackers and such to nibble on. No one, diabetic or not will eat enough desserts for it to be economical. We are doing four parties in December so we can have good viewing for the shows. If your husband is concerned you can ask when you book the party if there are alternative choices.

The dessert parties really are about the experience and not the food. The Star Wars party really was great when we went. Huge assortment of snacks, Chewbacca mug, sodas (I don't drink alcohol - diabetic, so I don't know about how those were), and a spot on the pavement with enough room for us to sit and watch the show made it worth the price for us.

It's absolutely allowed. If you can carry it, you can take it. If you don't take it, you know where most of it ends up. It doesn't happen often because by the end of the party most guests are stuffed and don't want to see another dessert.

When we did this back in 2015, I did remember there were cheese, crackers, and strawberries available, but be forewarned that the rest of the desserts will either be carbs, sugar, sugar, and more sugar. Although it is an all you can eat dessert party, I don't even think a normal person can eat more than 1-2 plates.

I think one of the major reasons to do the dessert party is that you don't have to worry about waiting an hour to stake a spot to sit as the CM's will escort you to the viewing area with guaranteed viewing, which is nice. It is possible to bring the desserts to the viewing area if you are holding on to them in your hand or bag, but it wasn't paper plates so you can't take a whole plate of desserts to the viewing area unless you are hiding them in your bag.

In terms of worth, it is subjective to each person if the value of paying $60 is worth getting prime seating and some desserts/drinks. It was a great experience, but it was more of a one and done experience to me.

Maybe consider getting a FP+ for the special viewing area on the hub lawn? Is that still a thing?

Nope, no longer offered as FP+. That area (in front of Casey's) is open to the public, but fills up early.

Thanks everyone!

If the mug has changed, what has it changed to? Or has it been eliminated?
