Interactive Pins Working?

We purchased a 100 Years of Magic interactive pin 8 yrs ago for our daughter. We have been stationed overseas since then and are finally making a return visit to WDW. Do those pins still interact with rides, parade floats, and special areas in WDW parks? If so, we will start hunting for it so we can enjoy the lights and sounds once again. If not, we won't waste the time and focus our energies elsewhere. Does anyone know if the pins still work? I have received conflicting info from Guest Relations and the DD Pin Store. We were in WDW in October 2009 and my pin worked then. I especially remember the Peter Pan ride because it continually blinked and turned green. Hope the pins will always work. I have it attached to my backpack. Make sure you have new batteries, otherwise the pin doesn't work that well.
