Insurance for medical conditions

Hi all,


Does anyone know which companies have insurance for existing medical conditions such as stroke, atrial fibrillation, high blood pressure etc?

DH suffered a stroke almost ten years ago and has a few conditions resulting from this. His condition has been stable for years. We got saga insurance in march for a trip to DLP and they quoted for USA at the same time, around £660.

I've finally got round to calling them today for cover for our trip later this month and they've said they won't cover his conditions now despite the only change being him having one less blood pressure pill. They gave me a number for first assist and I called them before 7 tonight but the phone see,ed to be answered and put down!

Last time we went 8 years ago I think we used MIA - those initials could be in the wrong order or just wrong!

So any ideas of where to go next would be great, obviously we know it's gonna cost us a chunk!

Try all clear insurance they cover most pre existing conditions

Have you tried Age UK? My dad has a complex heart condition and has got insurance through them before.

Meant to say - my dad is not elderly, just has complex medical needs that they can more accommodate.

Thanks guys. I've just got insurance with All Clear for £323.32 - can't quite believe that figure as expected well over £600 following the previous quote.


I completed it all online so got to add all existing conditions myself - always easier than trying to explain over the phone.

For future reference our conditions covered are:

Me - none
DH - stroke, arrhythmia, high blood pressure, high cholesterol, warfarin, epilepsy from scar in brain following stroke - medication for all conditions
DD - perforated eardrum
DS - petite mal (epileptic absence), broken bone in foot 6 weeks ago

I chose the gold plus insurance as it had higher cancellation cover etc but the standard gold option was cheaper still. Need to print out documents and read through to make sure everything is good with the policy but it seems fine and I'm more than happy with the price!

Thats good you got it sorted and at a good price. My insurance company refused to over me for my crohns as Im awaiting to start new treatment when I return from my holidays. They covered me for everything else.
