I apologize because I know this has been asked before, but I have searched the FAQ's and many pages and can not find the answer.

I am traveling to Pop in August and DMom will need a place to put her insulin. I know they will provide a fridge. Is it regular size or is it a small medical one? Just wondering if I will need to bring a cooler or rent a fridge for the kids' soy milk or if it will be unnecessary.
Thank-you:goodvibes

What they will probably provide is a small (about 1.5 cubic foot) refrigerator. You should be able to also put in the soy milk, as long as it is not in a gallon jug.

Thanks for the quick response.:thumbsup2 Sounds like we should be just fine.

Be sure to watch the temp on it, we just got back, and our fridge was more like a freezer...we hadn't thought to check the temp and it was turned all the way up. Once we turned it down everything started to thaw out, but don't want to ruin your meds!

Yes...be VERY careful with the fridge and insulin. There is a part of the usual fridge (if that is what you end up with - like a small dorm fridge) that has a wire shelf that juts out from a solid white shelf area. That solid white area (it is in the middle of the fridge) is a place that you do NOT want to set your insulin. Anything we put there got way to cold (with ice in it) even after turning the fridge down.

I like to put his insulin bottle wrapped in paper towels and inside of a bigger container (like one of those disposable ziploc or glad plastic ones) and set that in there. That way the bottle isn't sitting on the shelf directly.

For most insulins I'm aware of you can keep an opened bottle at room temperature - I would suggest doing this with the opened bottle. We put the back-up insulin in the fridge.

Oh one more thing, check your bill, we were charged for our fridge even though we requested it for medical reasons.

As a matter of fact, NONE of our original requests were met this time, we asked for 1st floor and were placed on 3rd floor, we asked for 80's and were placed in 50's, and we asked for a fridge and it wasn't delivered until I called and asked for it after we got in the room. We did, however get an adjoining room with our family members who came 4 days after we did.

I have had this happen at several (non-Disney) hotels.

If the room does not normally have a refrigerator and they bring one in, the person who brings it will turn it to maximum cold thinking that it will make it chill faster.

Unfortunately, it will not make it chill any faster but will effectively turn it into a freezer. So if you have to get a refrigerator brought to your room, always check to make sure that the person who brought it in has set it to the middle of the temperature range.
