Insulin Pump and water rides

While we have travelled to the Florida parks since my DD12 was diagnosed with Diabetes 3 years ago, this will be our first trip with her insulin pump (Minimed Paradigm). The pump is not rated as waterproof....is there anything out there that will keep a pump dry during a water ride such as Kali River Rapids, or Popeye and Bluto or Dudley Doright? I don't want to take her pump off for the duration of a lineup and/or leave it in a locker. We are travelling in August and I figure this will give me enough time to order something if there is anything out there designed for this purpose.

Never dealt with insulin pumps, but i worked at a medical daycare with kids hooked up to central IVs all the time. On "splash day" we put the pumps in a double plastic grocety bag and tied it shut, then used plastic tape on all 4 sides of a piece of plastic wrap over the iv insertion site. It wouldnt be good enough to submerge but would work for things like splash mountain or kali river rapids

Back when I used a MiniMed pump they used to sell a special case just for that purpose. I don't know if they still do, but it might be worth checking their store.

On Kali, where you could get drenched, literally drenched, we have used double plastic sandwich bags and then enclose the whole thing in a zippy bag and that seems to be enough. Either my son keeps it hooked up and tucked well under his clothing, or we ziplock everything together (meter, etc) in our backpacks and place that in the center. Never had any trouble as long as we've wrapped the items well enough.

On a ride like splash mountain, he just double wraps in sandwich bags and tucks it back into his spi belt. (by sandwich bags, I mean then cheap kind with no zip. We just alternate directions and wrap it with a rubber band. )

I didn't see anything on the Medtronic site so we may have to go with your suggestions.....cheap and effective! I like it

I'm in the UK so use Medtronic's UK site but they have plastic shower bags, I brought a pack for home use but also tend to take a couple with me whenever I go out of the house in case it rains, you pop the pump into the bag and it has a sticky strip on the bottom of the bag which you close, just leaving the tubing hanging out. I'm also going to be taking them on my trip later this year.

In the full on water, the pump comes off, but it protects it enough from splashing. I buy a big box of the baggies and all summer long I keep a handful of them with a rubber band in my car and pool bag. It's the cheapest and easier solution.

However, I see that it's a bit on the pricey side. For some reason, they included a free one with my first pump (I think it was the MiniMed 2 - anyway, it was before they came out with the Paradigm) so I didn't know how much they cost. I used it on the water rides at Darien Lake back in the day.
