Does anone own one of these? I was just looking at the Making Memories Instant Eyelet Setter online. Does it work as well as the "hammer" kind? Just deciding if I should get one. DH would love it if I kept the noise to a minimum during football season! :rotfl:

My friend has a a silent one from MM. Its like a handle that you push down on and twist. We both like using. I had really stayed away from eyelets because I didnt really care for the hammering stuff but this one I like to use.

I used my silent setter for the first time at a crop on friday night and I love it. I don't like the hammering either and was quite surprised at how well it worked. I was using the eyelets that come with it so I will have to experiment with different brands to see if it works as well on those. Will let you all know when I find out.

I unloaded my silent setter on eBay. I hated it! It really hurt my hand and wrist after awhile. I replaced it with the Karen Foster Clickit which I love. I really like that I can use it for eyelets, but also for embossing. It isn't "silent", but it is much quieter and better controlled than hammering.

I have the Silent Setter and I love it. I have not tried the others but I have heard that they are all noisy to some degree. The difference is that the clikit and other spring-loaded ones have just one "pop" instead of numerous bangs of the hammer. I don't have wrist problems so the SS doesn't bother me. I do sometimes stand up and push down but I am hefty enough to smush without much resistance, lol.

I have the silent setter also - but it is provo craft not mm
I LIKE it (note not LOVE) some eyelets are still to hard and I have to dust off the old hammer and tools...
but for the soft eyelets its great!

i have the mm instant setter and many others...and it so far is the best!!! there was another post here about it where i posted 5 different kinds of eyelets...
