Instant Messaging in Internet area

I have seen on several other threads that Instant Messaging is available on the ship. Is this really true and is it AOL IM or is it something else or were people probably just talking about emailing people? This would be very important information to know if people are needing to stay in touch with family members while on their cruise.

We just got off the ship this past Saturday. My DD 14 has AOL IM and she was using it quite a bit last week during our cruise.

If you sign up for the internet weekly package it is around $90 otherwise they charge by the minute. Anyone can get on IM if they signed up for the internet. There is a direct link on the computers for it.
