I saw a program last year that interviewed a buyer in the Walmart corporation to see what was the best selling items when storms are on the way. The top 2 items? Not shovels, not Ice Melt, not even Milk & bread. Their best sellers are beer & Pop Tarts.

I hate 'em both. I'll stick with milk & bread, maybe some coffee & cheese too.

I don't usually "run to the store" for anything if a storm is coming. We live on a farm and have a generator so if the power goes out and doesn't come back on within a few hours DH goes out and hooks it up.

We have 4-wheel-drive to get to town when we need to, and even if it was really, really, REALLY bad we could always take a tractor if we HAD to!

I tend to treat an ice storm a bit like we used to treat hurricane threats. I make sure that we have working flashlights and some canned goods. We like fruit, corn , tuna and ravioli without heating.

I'm one of those that runs out to stock up before an ice storm. But since I earn cash daily I typically buy groceries only a few days at a time and don't have a huge stock in the house. And since I work out of my house, I figure there's no reason for me to drive during these "winter events" I'm smart enough to know that I don't know how to drive on ice! If I wrecked my car going for TP I would be really mad.

I usually make sure we've got plenty of water (can't stand Tap) and TP. plus a few things to eat, snack and drink. Usually something my daughter and I can bake together. She really likes that
