Was it traditional and in a church? Was it outdoors in a garden setting? Maybe in some other locale like Vegas or Hawaii? Anyone get married on a cruise ship or the beach?

It's fun to hear where others had their most special day take place.

(BTW mine was outdoors in a garden setting next to a waterfall. :cloud9: )

Outdoors, garden setting at a country club overlooking a golf course. A perfect fall day! :goodvibes

Someday I'll have pictures (we're still going over the proofs).

Traditional, in a church, wedding at a country club. :bride: pirate:

It sounds so boring, but it really was a wonderful time in my life, and the best day in my life up til then.

My story is kinda funny actually. Me and DH were dating and I ran in to check us into a motel
On the counter were some Justice of the Peace business cards. Apparently the motel owner was a JP. I grabbed one on my way out and jokingly said to my now DH "hey, we may need this someday".
Well, a couple of months later, sure enough we did! LOL I tracked "the night" back and came to that night. So the only natural thing was to call her to perform the ceremony.
We had it in her living room, invited our parents the night before. Nothing exciting or romantc, just kinda ironic! LOL

Davis Island Garden Club in Tampa...it was supposed to be outdoors then a Nor-easter hit the east coast causing snow as far south as Atlanta...in MARCH! We ended up having it inside and it was a wonderful day!

first time was in a church second time ( same man, vow renewal) on the beach in Hawaii.

Church Wedding. With a Beach Reception. The building was across the street from the beach. Honeymoon - Hotel on the Beach. It was the same beach where DH asked me to marry him.

DH and I were married by a justice of the peace in a small chapel (if you can even call it that) in Houston. We didn't even know the name of the guy until we read our marriage license. :teeth:

Mine was at a park in Oregon, at the confluence if 2 rivers.

I like this question, there are so many different ways people have tied the knot.

Lake Tahoe, outdoors in the snow with our close family and friends.

I got married in a state park lodge (in a lobby in front of a fireplace). It was very small-- only about 25 or so family and friends. My cousin's husband is a preacher, so he performed the ceremony. It was perfect for me because I wanted a religious ceremony, but not necessarily a church wedding since I knew it would be so small. :teeth:

Traditional church wedding - Reception at a banquet hall.

The church was the one DH and I were both raised in, but we never knew each other growing up.

I got married in my mother's back yard amongst the flowers with the farm land in the back. The cows were even nice and stayed out of the picutres for me. :thumbsup2 Then honeymooned at WDW.

My sister got married in the same place 5 years later and the cows that occupy that field participated in the vows. :rotfl2: Mooed and bellowed the whole time. We were hysterical. :woohoo:

Chruch wedding at the college I went to and a country club reception.....it was a perfect day :)

Barefoot on the beach at Sandals Ocho Rios, Jamaica.

Want to see a pic?

:goodvibes What a great story!! :goodvibes

There's alot of great stories actually. Keep em coming..... ;)

We got married in an old gothic cathedral in downtown Detroit, (built in 1859). The aisle way was referred to as a runway because it was sooooooo long, you could land a plane on it! Very traditional wedding with 6 couples & 2 junior couples & tuxedo's with tails & limo's. Reception was at a fancy wedding banquet hall. There was another wedding going on in there too that night & as we were dancing the 'conga' ~ we 'conga'd' all the way into the other wedding party's banquet hall & my DH & I had a dance with the other bride & groom! It was too cool. We had a great videographer, as he followed us & has us on film dancing with the other bridal couple! It was the most fun day of my life. Unfortunatley, the videographer didn't get a shot of my sweet table when the rope was dropped.....you should have seen hords of people almost knocking each other over to get to one of the 42 varieties of desserts we had on three 9 foot tables! (That sweet table was a gift from 2 of my groomsmen who owned a restaurant.)

Great thread BTW!

funny sidenote to my story. We lived in nashua NH at the time and so the whole area has since been built up. The place where the JP had her house is now a tire store, so whenever we drive by we point to the tire store and say that's where we got married! LOL

Maybe we should go their to renew our vows. Aisle 6 I think would work! LOL
