Have you ever given in to a high pressure salesman and bought something you really didn't want?

When Dh and I were in college we had a Kentucky Central Life Insurance salesman come to our apartment and stay for 2-3 hours. We finally bought the insurance even though we clearly didn't need it. Still while in college, I did some programming for an independent insurance agent who was wonderful. I told him about the policy and he looked at it and told me to cancel immediately. I did.

I was 19 and learned a valuable lesson as to how to handle high pressure salesman. The situation has come up many times since then but I remember that expensive lesson and have no problem saying NO.

Anyone else give in and regret it later?

Yes! In 1998, my dh and I bought a full price NYC timeshare. We came home researched timeshares, cxld the contract and bought a resale Vistana for a quarter of the NYC price!

NEVER!!!!! My mother taught me to say no. I avoid situations like that so I don't have to deal with it. A salesman comes to me, I tell them to give me their card and if I want to buy, I will be the one to find THEM. I want to be left alone when making a financial decision.

No, but I probably would if it weren't for DH, he has no problem telling people "no", but I'm just a sucker or I don't want to hurt there feelings. I need to get a spine.
