Inspired by the grocery bill thread: how do you shop?

same here! It is much easier to go by myself.

Is peapod the home delivery service? we don't have that here. Though I sure could be tempted to use it.

I generally shop at the local Stop & Shop grocery store. I'll look at ads, and if something is a HUGE bargain in another store which is reasonably close by (within a 15-20 minute driving distance) I'll go to that store just to pick up the well-priced items. We have a store in our area that sometimes does "buy 1,get 2 free", so that's the worth the trip for certain things.

I go to BJs Wholesale Club on occasion, but since we moved a few years ago, it's not as convenient as it was when I was first married. Then it was about 5 minutes from our apartment. Now it's a 15 minute ride.

I go to Expect Discounts on occasion. They have some good prices on toiletry items, food etc.

In general though, I would say that 90% of my grocery shopping is at Stop & Shop.

We don't do all our shopping in the one shop........we go to a few & we look for the junk mail specials.

Grocery shopping is done at Stop & Shop. Usually the S&S by work because MA has a lower sales tax. I don't use coupons or a list. I'm a whim shopper. I don't bring DH with me unless he makes a fuss- we spend too much money when he's there

The milkman brings us milk, juice, eggs, and bread every week.

DH usually picks up wine and goodies at Trader Joe's when he's working in the area (usually every 2-3wks)

I go to BJ's once every 2-3mos to stock up on bulk items.
Cleaning products, h&b stuff, and some other things are bought at Target

In the summer, I get produce from local farm stands.

We usually shop at Price Chopper for the bulk of the groceries and sometimes Shaw's. Toiletries, cleaning products and kitchen stuff are purchased at Target with coupons, even if we don't need it right away. Our supermarkets also double all coupons up to $0.99, so I think it's worth it to scan through the flyer and the coupon sorter and find good deals.

I buy most of my groceries at Demoulas. I also scan the circulars for Shaw's and Roche Brothers and if they have things on sale I will go there too. They are only 1-2 miles out of the way. A friend bought only sale items at Shaw's one week and the cashier yelled at her and told her she can't just buy sale items! She was speechless but I would have asked for the manager!

The cashier yelled at your friend? That's crazy. That is all I do at Kroger. Everything there is on sale or a doubled coupon.

Usually, I have a list, but it's usually for the things I'm likely to forget. I always get more than just whst's on the list. I try to use coupons, but usually forget.

I shop @ BJ's for detergents, paper goods, diapers, shampoo, soap, ground beef, chicken breasts & some other misc stuff.

All of my other groceries, I get at Ukrop's.

Just wanted to  to the other Ukrop's shoppers & say thanks for shopping there - you're paying my paycheck :D (I WAH as a consultant for them. I've worked for them since I was 16 & started WAH after my 1st DS was born)
