inspired by the failing a class thread

if i'd have failed anything in HS i would've blown a gasket!!!
now that i'm in unviersity, i've learned to accept bad marks  which is terrible, but unfortunately it doesn't bother me anymore.
i'm at the point in my education where i just want to be DONE with school, so getting a bad mark doesn't tear me up anymore as badly as i would've in the past.

i just got a 47 on an assignment not too long ago, and it was because i did the wrong format of citations. buti had a test a couple weeks after and just studied extra and will hopefully bring that back up.

i always pay attn to the weight of a test or assignment before i get upset. if something is worth less that 15% i'm not too torn up because i can always try to bring it back up.

but i've gone from being a high 80/90 student in HS to being a high 60/70 student in uni. and sadly, i've come to accept that because as i mentioned, i'm at the point where i just don't care that much anymore and i just want to be DONE with school!

i have a borderline A in chemistry and Im scared! I want all A's :(

and i really hope i get a C or above in Calculus, hopefully the curve will be hugeeeee cuz my prof is the devil.

i mean im really good at calculus he just makes the tests impossible. but like i said, calculus is easy, much easier than precalculus.

i need a 3.5 (A) gpa for my major and to stay in national collegiate scholar society thing lol

and i have exactly that :P

whats your attitude towards failing? i'm a perfectionist. yes, i fail tests occasionally. it ruins me.

how would you feel if/when you did fail a class? now, i couldn't stand it. it would not do me any good. i go to a vocational school. i think i'd get kicked out, tbh. but in college, i guess it depends on the class. idk.

was it not a big deal, or did it really upset you? i haven't failed one yet.

ive failed tests at college but it doesnt hurt me emotionally as much because in almost every class i can eliminate the worst grade lol :D

and because there is a curve. we dont have curves in high school.

Failing a test is ok...because I can comeback from it...failing a class is bad

I'm nearly failing my AP Environmental Science class. I've just kind of accepted it. I'm a senior, one F (or D) won't kill me and my future. I know it won't. I can probably pull it up to a C if I work at it hard enough. I'm trying to drop it at the semester because I don't need the AP credit (or the stress of the class...long story, the stress isn't related to having an F in the class). But yah, I'm not huge into grades; they are just numbers and letters, they won't kill me. :confused3

I dunno, I usually see failing in anything lower than grade 12 as laziness. Even if you don't grasp the concepts that well, you get points for completing all the assignments, participating, etc. Even if you're not getting good marks on your tests, as long as you're managing above a fail on them, you can pass the course.

I'm going to respectfully disagree with this. I don't get the concepts of my class that I am failing. I do my homework, but the way my teacher grades homework is not completion grade, its a content grade. So even if I try on the homework and do it wrong then guess who gets a 0 for an hour worth of work? Me. Participation doesn't get put into my grade at all. I'm just barely passed the two tests we've taken this quarter. I'm getting a D in that class. While yes this isn't exactly failing a course, I am on track and the verge of failing of it. Also, in my house, a D is a failing grade. I have to make above a C.

I would only feel bad about it if it was a subject I knew I shouldn't have failed. If it was math class, I wouldn't be shoced or feel *too* bad. I'd be upset but knowing my math abilities are limited, it wouldn't be the end of the world.

My intelligence and worth is not going to ever be determined by a grade.
