After taking my daughter yesterday for her ortho visit, how long do you have to wait at the orthodontist's office for your child? It's always at least an hour for us and that's after she is taken back to be worked on. She rarely waits for more than 5 - 10 minutes to be taken back but her time in the chair is awfully long. She says that they leave her there watching tv while working on others.

For the regular "tightenings," we are usually in and out in about 10-15 minutes! When he has more work done (adding braces etc.), it could be an hour and he does spend some time just sitting in the chair.

For DS about 15 mins. ~ maybe a little more if he is having something done that requires more time. I can remember when I had braces and each visit was at least 1 1/2 hrs. between waiting to go in and then waiting in the chair :crazy2:

When I go for adjustments (I'm 24) my ortho usually gives me an estimate of the appointment time, its usually 15-30 min. Most times I am out of there in about 30 min, I go back right after I get there most times and wait about 5 minutes in the chair.

my adjustments never took more than 15 min. usually i was out within 10 min. extra stuff (adding/rearranging) brackets was about an hour/hour and a half...getting the braces on was 3, getting them off was a little over an hour....

When I had my braces, I was usually out within 15-20 minutes, maybe a half hour at the longest. Getting braces on was a little less then an hour, getting them off was about an hour.

My daughter just had her teeth banded in early December. She doesn't go back for an adjustment until February. I will say her orthodontist is very accomodating re: appt times etc...before school after school etc. I live in Northern Virginia.

DD's ortho is pretty accomodating as well. She's usually in and out in 15 min.'s to a 1/2 hr. One day I had an awful headache and of course that was the day she was back there for about an hour. When she came out to the waiting room she found me sitting on the couch... asleep :earseek: You can imagine the teasing I got on the ride home. Atleast my head felt better.

My ortho's office is extremely efficient. Typical appts take 15 mins - in and out. Appointments take require more time are clearly communicated when we make the appt, and they are always right on.

Now the first consultation appointment? Oh the time we spent waiting! :worried: At our office, if you can get past that first one, they are very well run! ::yes::

Usually about 1/2 an hour or less. More like an hour if they have to adjust bands or take x-rays, etc.

Only a few more visits for us. She gets them off next summer. We've had one in braces almost constantly for the last 4 years.

We usually wait 15 minutes to see the orthodontist and DS is in the chair for 10-15 minutes unless something special is being done. We have waited for up to 30 minutes if they have overbooked or have to squeeze in "emergencies."

Wow, hopefully my daughter's ortho visits will shorten soon. I would feel so lucky to only have to wait 30 minutes.
