Let me tell ya...I am really enjoying my first winter as a Floridian! :D :D

Just 2 days ago, I hit the jackpot at Homer's and came home with a bag full of dahlia bulbs, gladiola bulbs, and calla lily bulbs. I planted them Tuesday and the dahlias have already broken ground today! At first I thought that maybe I hadn't planted them deep enough, but I was very careful to actually plant them a tad deeper than normal, as they are perennials here and I wanted to make them extra safe.

Today I am heading out to plant my 3 poinsettias from the holidays and see how those fare over the next year. I am also eagerly awaiting the bud to open on my amaryllis - exciting for me as I have never seen an amaryllis in the ground, only in a pot. If all goes well with the amaryllis, I am going to underplant my daylily beds with them so they grow while the daylillies are resting.

Still very undecided on the edging to use. But, I have time yet. I need to get the beds cleared and move sprinkler heads (FUN!) before I get to that point. These are my winter projects.

May thoughts of beautiful flowers and warmth carry you thru the winter! :flower: :flower: :flower:

You're killing me Julie...sigh.... ;)

It all sounds so nice, and warm, and well, green!

I'm glad you're enjoying yourself, and would love for you to keep us posted on your plants progress. :)

I do have to ask though, who's Homer?

;)

Home Depot, sorry. One of my old managers in Michigan used to call it that, and for some reason it just stuck in my head. Kind of kooky.

Sounds kind of funky! ;)

Home Depot is my DH's home away from home! He goes there (all the time!) to pick up things for work, and always ends up helping other customers find stuff, and giving them free advice!! :)

i noticed today that some of my snowbells and jonquills are breaking through, need to check out my glads and tulips, havent checked them, or the dahlias yet:) i did notice that my roses are finnally not blooming anymore, hoping we get at least a month or so of dormant season thisyear as i need to transplant several of the bushes and re work the rose garden tto amnmewnd the soil, its really not in the best of locations , a bit too wet, i need to mix in a few wheel barrows of sand and some peat and wouldrather dig up the roses while dormant instead of green people thought i was crazy when i told them i had roses blooming with christmas lights strung in them:)

Oh, how nice!!! :D I love when someone posts pics for us! :) Thank you, Froggy! Is it alright to call you Froggy, or would you prefer FIA? Actually, you're a Bud now!! ;) :)

You obviously have a green thumb!

Roses at Christmas, very cool! :)

When I look out my window, all I see is.....snow. Kind of like the pic below.

have been froggy for the last 5 or 6 years:)

Sigh. It's just plain, old, wet, soggy winter here.

Better than snow, though!

I envy you, Julie!
