Inspired by snoopy, how many twins are in YOUR family?

Lets see there are 3 sets of multiples in my family- My twin sisters (not iden though) are 10 years older than Me, my brother and sister (We're the triplets of the group) then my next younger siblings are identical twin girls-

I married a triplet but they are the only multiples in the family

I also had triplets...

My mother has an identical twin sister. My dads sister who is my aunt has twin boys who are fraternal.

I don't think we have any twins in our family tree.

But what's weird is all three of my sons have friends that are twins!!!

My sister has identical twin sons. Those are the only twins in two generations, though. Before that my mother's father's mother had twins and was a twin, herself.

I wasn't blessed with twins. I wish I had been, though.

I have fraternal (boy/girl) twins and have a set of first cousins who are also boy/girl twins. I don't know about further back though.

Years ago, twins were judged to be identical or not by looking at the placenta.If there was one placenta they were labelled as identical and if there were two placentas they were fraternal. Unfortunately, it is not very accurate. Fraternal twins can have placentas that fuse together and can look like only one placenta. That may have happened with your husband and his twin.

Also, on the other side of the coin, identical twins can have two placentas. If the fertilized egg splits before implanting in the uterus, they will have two placentas. If it splits after implantation, there will only be one placenta. The only sure fire way to know is a DNA test or a small skin graft between the twins. Grafts were done before DNA testing was common.

I have identical twin girls who are 6.

My maternal grandfather was a twin (fraternal).

My paternal grandpa has a twin sister.

That's all that I know of, but my grandpa said once that there were other twins in the family history.

dh and I had the first set of twins in either of our families this past march. well, I assume so. his grandmother is suddenly saying that maybe her great great uncle was a twin but the other one died as a baby or something like that. Dh thinks she's just reaching. I have no idea, all I know is SURPRISE! it can happen to anyone, even with no (or little) family history, no fertility drugs.

I have a set of fraternal(boy/girl) twins, my sister-in-law has two sets of boy twins, and my mother-in-law had a set of fraternal twins.

We have fraternal twin boys who will be 5 months old next Wednesday! There are no twins in our families--we did IVF and it worked really well! LOL!
