Inspired by old shoe stores - who had Bastaad clogs?

I had all kinds. Both kinds that had ties, the portholes, the ones with the "weaved" thing on the top - all colors.

AND... they were PERFECT for cheating on tests. I had all sorts of world history written on the bottom of my Bastaad clogs!

I really don't know what they called these shoes but they were of the clog variety. Wood on the bottom, one complete piece with leather upper. My mother finally allowed me to buy some shoes without her. I went with my sister and chose these. Turns out that because I pounded on these shoes while I walked they split in the arch area.

My mother made me return them. I picked another pair of the same shoes. Again, pounded on them, split the shoe. My mother got angry and wanted me to return them the second time. I refused to go because I was embarrased.

Lo and behold. She went with the shoes and got me a totally different pair of regular looking shoes. I wore those for a long time.

Oh my goodness, I too had all the styles in multiple colors. They were great. Also remember them being rather expensive too. Luckily my first job was at the store who sold them and I could get them from anywhere from 25% off up to 1/3 off.

I also remember every so ofter if you stepped on a rock, you would slide off the side of your shoe and man did that hurt.!!!!

They were kind of pricey. I would buy mine with my babysitting money. They were all over my junior high and high school back then. If you didn't have them, you were pretty uncool.

But guys that wore Bastaad clogs were considered a little "weird".
