What is the best eighties song?

I love "I Just Died in Your Arms Tonight"... and I love Rick Springfield's "Jessie's Girl" and I also think that any thing from "Duran Duran" meet the criteria...

What is your favorite song from that decade of style and shoulder pads?:p

You forgot Aqua Net :teeth:

I was always a fan of Eurythmics "Sweet Dreams"

"Everybody Wants to Rule the World," by Tears for Fears. I also love "Everything She Wants," by Wham!

Tainted Love by Soft Cell is one.

Jill

"One Night in Bangkok" and "Rock Me Amadeus". Those 80's songs take me back, but I'm not sure why - usually I was too tipsy to remember anything. :D Gotta watch those Alabama Slammers!

Oh Mickey You're So Fine You're So Fine You Blow My Mind Hey Mickey!!!   I have a love/hate relatonship with that song. :D

I can think of two-"Do You Really Want to Hurt Me?" by Culture Club. On the night DS #2 was born, they had the radio in the birthing room of the hospital on and I think that's about all they played. Also, I love Pink Floyd's "The Wall". Remember? "Teacher, we don't need no education, we don't need no thought control!" Funny thing is, I was a teacher then, and still am.

Ahhh, the 80's... my favorite decade! :)

I love Duran Duran, Prince, Van Halen and Culture Club for 80's groups.

Songs would be anything by Christoper Cross (love him! "Sailing"!), Bette Davis Eyes, Freeze-Frame, Alot of Michael Jackson songs (Thriller, Beat It, Billie Jean), Huey Louis has tons of good 80's songs... Tone Loc! So many to pick from! I can't wait to read other replies for the memories!

Big Country by Big Country and Come On Eileen by Dexi and the Midnight Runners. 2 excellent 80's tunes:)

Take On Me - A-Ha

or

Wake me up before you go go - Wham

Against All Odds

Written by Phil Collins

How can I just let you walk away?
Just let you leave without a trace?
When I stand here taking
Every breath with you
You're the only one
Who really knew me at all
How can you just walk away from me?
When all I can do is watch you leave?
'Cos we've shared the laughter and the pain
And even shared the tears
You're the only one
Who really knew me at all

So take a look at me now
There's just an empty space
There's nothing left here to remind me
Just a memory of your face
So take a look at me now
There's just an empty space
And you coming back to me is against the odds
And that's what I've got to face

I wish I could just make you turn around
Turn around and see me cry
There's so much I need to say to you
So many reasons why
You're the only one
Who really knew me at all

So take a look at me now
Well there's just an empty space
There's nothing left here to remind me
Just the memory of your face
Take a look at me now
So there's just an empty space
But to wait for you is all I can do
And that's what I've got to face
Take a good look at me now
'Cos I'll still be standing here
And you coming back to me is against all odds
That's the chance I've got to take
(Chance I've got to take, got to take)
So take a look at me now
Take a look at me now
Take a look at me now

I love this song.

"Space Age Love Song" by A Flock of Seagulls (love those 'dos!). Also, anything by Pet Shop Boys, but esp. "West End Girls."

Sailing- by Christopher Cross reminds me of the summer after my sophmore year in high school and the vacation at the beach and looking at all the cute boys.

Sussudio by Phil Collins

I don't know the name of this song, but the words were( we used to go dancing to this).......You spin me right round baby right round, like a record baby right round. Round, round
There are just way to many to remember . I loved almost all of them.

"Walk of Life" or "Money for Nothing" by Dire Straits (actually I just heard those on the radio, so they are fresh in my mind, but they are among my favorites of the era)

Way too many to mention, but if I had to pick one it would be "Baby on Board" by the B-Sharps :p

Dead or Alive

You Spin Me 'Round

(I think :) )

OMG, I could list TONS of 80's songs that I love! Much of my CD collection is 80's stuff. (I'm listening to an 80's radio station right now..."I'm fascinated by your love boy, I'm fascinated by your love toy, I'm fascinated by the way you make me feel."

How about:

Fascination, Human League - "Keep feeling fascination, passion burning, love so strong..."

Just Can't Get Enough, Depeche Mode

Dreamin', Will to Power

Debbie Deb, When I Hear Music

JTB -- that's the first song I thought of!

I'm not a big Phil Collins fan, but that was one of my favorites of the decade.

Anything by Duran Duran or Depeche Mode is out of the running with me because I love them all so much that I can't compare them!

Another non-DD/DM fave was "Every Breath You Take"

LuvTig -- I can't believe you mentioned DM and Debbie Deb in the same list! Blasphemy! Yikes!

Wanted Dead or Alive by Bon Jovi. Or Sweet Child 'O Mine by GnR. Or perhaps Control or Nasty by Janet Jackson.:)

Rio by Duran Duran. Didn't y'all know that? :teeth:
