Inspired by Crack (or the thread about it, anyway)

If drugs were legal would you use them?

  • I'm quite sure I never would.

  • I'm not sure what I'd do.

  • Probably once or twice for old times sake.

  • Hmmmmm...there is something I'd like to try

  • No doubt - and lots!

  • The laws are in place haven't exactly detered me.

  • Other

I almost called this thread - inspired by GrinningGhost's crack thread and then said that out loud a couple of times.....:)

If tomorrow - drugs were legal - would you take them?

Poll to follow.

Not a chance in he**. I don't even drink.

Nope!

The closest thing to drugs I'll take is a Xanax when my anxiety gets really bad. Those are few and far between though.

Not just because they were legal. I think drugs should be legal. All of them. I would not add any to my current list though.

Nope. Not even if they were free. I don't even like to take advil or vitamins!

I wouldn't. I just don't have the desire to try them, legal or not.

I wouldn't. The only possible exception I can think of is marijuana for treatment of chemo side effects.

We already had the 60's. Thats close enough to everything being legal.

I for one would be scared to leave my house knowing that there would be people under the influence of some serious mind altering substances. The world would be complete anarchy with people running around on LSD all the time.

Pot... yes. :hippie: Anything else... No! I might have to rethink that. Don't want to gain back the 30 pounds I lost.

If pot were legal, I would never touch hard alcohol again (not that I drink all that often, anyway...maybe three or four times a year will I have a drink any stronger than beer or wine). It's really just ignorance that has kept it illegal for this long anyway.

"Harder" drugs...no. No desire to get hooked on anything.

No not at all. It's not like living where I do and the friends I grew up with that it matters if they are legal or not.

I just choose not to do them and haven't drank anything since I was 14/15.

I do believe that some should be legalised and taxed. It would stop a lot of crime and over crowding of prisons . fill them up with violent criminals that could stay longer.

I have taken some Meds for my kidney stones as nothing really helps them anyhow.

I do believe some should be legalized and taxed, but I would not use any. I tried pot back in my college days, I don't have a desire to try it again. The possible exception might be if I ever needed it for a medical reason. I've never had a desire to try any other drugs.

Maybe pot occasionally, but that would be it. That being said, I think all drugs should be legal. It's insane how many billions are spent each year on the war on drugs. I'd rather that money be used for schools and education. Just think how small the classroom sizes would be, and no students would have to share books, and everyone could have music and art class and all those other classes that seem to get cut whenever the budget needs tightening.

I voted "The laws are in place haven't exactly detered me" but that only applies to pot.

Whether I'd try more drugs than pot if they were legal? It totally depends on what drug we're talking about. Some I'd never try, but others it might depend upon weighing the risks. Still, I don't think I'd have a strong urge to try any. Really I think the only difference the legality would make is if drugs were being regulated by the state. In that case, one would know exactly what one was getting, unlike when they are illegal and one could be getting any similar looking substance or something undetectable mixed in.

I agree completely - people always worry about kids and drugs or their health care professionals using them before surgery and such - I always assumed they'd just follow the same as the drinking laws.

No drugs for under 21 - no drugging and driving - no crack before surgery - stuff like that. Doesn't seem any more difficult to regulate than cigarettes.
