Inspired by "Christmas Eve Traditions" thread..

Since I'm the one who makes most of the Christmas Day dinner I'm usually busy in the kitchen part of Christmas Eve, so there is really no planned meal for that night. I like the idea of getting Subway sandwiches, maybe we'll do that this year.

We usually go out to dinner at Olive Garden, I love italian food and it's a place that we reserve for special occasions so it's always a big treat. Then we bring home Tiramisu for dessert for later that night.

I remember always having Cheese Straws to munch on. This was my favorite thing to make on christmas.

The main thing for us on Christmas eve was a big family breakfast. I remember waking up to Cheese Grits (a personal favorite), bacon, eggs, biscuits, and whatever else made it in. But the cheese grits were always the *must have* item.

Now I am fairly known for my pumpkin cookies and homemade truffles. Wjenever i have kids i will cook those a lot I am sure, Though i recently inherited the rfecipe for the cheese straws and can't wait to start trying those things out again! Though thing never seem quite as good when I am the one making them.... it tastes so much better when dad makes it.

We always go to my uncle's for Christmas Eve dinner. It varies from year to year, but it's usually prime rib, roasted potatoes, sweet potatoes, green beans (ALWAYS!), a couple of other side dishes, some sort of delicious gravy/sauce, and rolls. Dessert is whatever my Nana brings-- usually some sort of delicious cake! He is a fabulous cook and it's always delicious.
However, in recent years I have to watch myself at dinner, because the party at DBF's is to come! They have a family dinner (like us) and then a big party after. The party-- homemade fried calamari and other delicious Italian treats! Yummy!

Christmas Eve we get together at my MIL's and we usually eat sandwiches, pie that kind of thing. Christmas Eve night, we set out cookies for Santa and we all have a cookie, DD's and I have hot chocolate with marshmallows and whipped cream and DH has milk. We light the candles, look at the tree and relax.

On Christmas morning, after all the families open gifts we have brekfast at my Nanny's with my Mom, Dad, sister nephew, 2 aunts, their husbands, 7 of my cousins and my Grandparents. We have homemade biscuts, sausage, grits, eggs, gravy and sometimes country ham. It's so great. Great food and family. Man, I'm hungry now.:rotfl2:

We always have chicken wings, cocktail shrimp, and a cheese and meat platter, plus chips, but the other appetizers vary - including vegetable pizza dip, pigs in a blanket, bbq weenies, etc. Dessert is Christmas cookies.
