or oysters and any other kind of creature right out of the shell. I love to sit down with a bowl of hot broth and melted butter and just slurp away!

gee thanks Kev....I really needed that...now I am craving steamers....yum!!! With lots and lots on butter!!!!

Me me me me me meeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee

Except, I can only have them when we are with my parents, DH can't stand to look at them, and my mom does not either, so my Dad and I have to pig out together.

Nothing better than fresh little necks, lots of broth and butter with lemon. Yummy yum yum

Um, not me, I dissected one in school and now can't stand to eat them. :(

We've never had them at home but eat them regularly at Legal Sea Food:) :) :) :) :) .........

I do...at home with DH...but only if we're having lobster after. ;)

I won't eat oysters or mussels...not sure why  and once I tried one of those big raw uuuuuuuugggggghhhhhhhh things...don't even know how you spell it - quohogs??? bleeech

But yep, a bowl of steamers, a bowl of broth, a bowl of butter. YUM

I hate to go to a restaurant and order fried clams and find out they are only clam strips and no bellies.....that is the best part...a little juicy follower
I am going to do that in a few weeks....my daughter in law and I are going to sit down and eat a peck of clams......yummy

Love steamers, mussels, raw oysters (I can slurp down a couple dozen of those babies) , crab, lobster . YUUUUMMMM:bounce: :bounce: :bounce: :bounce:

Okay, now I"m curious. HOw do you "feed" them?

YUM-MEE....I love steamers..I'm headed to Maine on Friday and my first meal is going to be steamers. I can't wait:Pinkbounc

Yummmmmm:) I think I will gho out and get some for tonight. I'll use the grill to steam then and some corn on the cob. Thanks for the meal tip!:)

Rinse them in cool water. Fill a sink or basin with cool water. Put clams in and sprinkle the surface with the corn meal (I like white corn meal) so that it's covered over.

Check the basin about an hour or two later. The clams will have ingested the corn meal and the water will be clear. (It's actually cool to watch the first time...for about 5 minutes)

Take clams out of the sink/basin and rinse. Rinse sand from the sink/basin and refill with cool water. Place clams back in the clear water and repeat the corn meal step. This will ensure all the sand, shells, etc. are removed from their little clam bellies.

Prior to cooking, rinse and you are done. And no sand to crunch down on while eating them.

:p Love, love, love, love, love steamers, clams, oysters! Now I'm craving!
