we eloped as well, flew down to mexico and got married on the beach at sunset. love is simply an emotion, and emotions change throughout your life. fear is an emotion, it's like getting married to someone that you legally swear to be afraid of your whole life, that may change.

Stacerita had a good guy but broke it off, things happen.

Then why'd you bother getting married?

I mean, yeah- love is an emotion, but it's one you don't have much control over sometimes. Like, my mom is totally crazy, but I love her anyway. I can't help it. I dislike her a lot sometimes, but I always love her.

I fell in love with Mark. And I can't imagine that changing, unless one of us radically changes. And a marriage is something you work at. You decide that you WANT to be with this person for the rest of your life, and that you are going to do what it takes to make it work- and try to be happy along the way!

Absolutely!!

So many things go into making the marriage decision. And marriage isn't for everyone!

Mark and I shacked for 4 years- we knew we wanted to get married mostly for the peace of mind and security that marriage provides: if I'm in a coma, Mark gets to make my decisions; Mark would automatically get all of my stuff if I died, etc.

I didn't need the wedding day and the dress and all that to know that I wanted to spend the rest of my life with him: that was a bonus.
