Weddings sometimes bring out the worst in some people.

There were two things (other than my dress) that I really wanted for my friend's wedding and I begged her to get. Buttercream frosting on her cake, its my fave!!! And the other was open bar. I "NEED" that!

I was an awesome MOH too. I did SIL's shower all in shades of pink and white, complete with cinderella shoes full of fuschia and light pink M&M's- I am obsessive about themes. I bought her a $250 eeyore bedset that she JUST HAD TO HAVE for her shower- then she decides to do her bedroom in orange and red- and not use the bed set!!!

You know, if only everyone else in the world was as thoughtful as we are, it would be like, well, living as Disney World!

The shower Im throwing isn't too much of a "theme". My friend really wanted a garden party so I am having a brunch on my patio in the back yard. We have done a ton of work on the yard and we planted a whole barrel full of flowers, and its looks great out there. And she is also a freak about Mexican food. She can't get enough. So I am making her homemade Mexican food for brunch as well. All of her faves. Nothing is too good for my friend. Hey, she isn't demanding or anything. I know thats what she really wants so why not.


ETA - oh, and the color for the shower is brown with pink and yellow polka dots. She doesn't do the girly thing.

No kidding!!!

Well, I can't say I'm thoughtful all the time. Maybe I was extra thoughtful having just gone through the hell that was my wedding planning!!

Isn't that supposed to be FUN?

IT"S NOT. Nope. It's stressful and everyone has an opinion. I learned a lot, though, about dealing with people and standing up for what I want. And telling people (mothers included) to back off.

Which will come in handy in my child rearing adventures, I'm sure!! My MIL (God love her- I certainly do) thinks I have peculiar ideas when it comes to raising kids... so it should be fun! And MY mom.... there just aren't words for her.... But, suffice it to say, everything I do, it will be suggested that I do it another way because that's how she did it.

I'm obsessive about themes, when there is one. For instance, my wedding was fall-themed. Everything was fall colors: golds, reds, oranges... I made little tissue holders out of cardstock in those colors that contained a tissue and said "Thank You" stamped in gold with gold leaves... My table center pieces were pumpkins carved with hearts and "H"s, for our last initial- I made my family and Mark's carve about 60 pumpkins!!! They looked beautiful though!!

And for SIL's shower- everything was a shade of pink or white. Table cloths, cake, balloons, wrapping paper I used, all the bridesmaids and bride were instructed to wear pink, pink M&M's in cinderella slippers (she's a Disney fanatic- more than me), pink buckets filled with candles and "snow" because the shower was in january.

Gosh, I love a theme...

Thanks! Im hoping it turns out like I want it to. Im not one of those crafty scrapbookie kinda gals so Im winging it. Her family is though and it makes me nervous because I have seen what showers that they throw look like. So Im just hoping they enjoy the food (i kick a** at cooking) and have fun.

Honestly, although I go to a ton a year, I dont like weddings. I only go for the open bar and the cake. Oh, and the occasional DMO.

Now that I had mine, I am sooooo over them. In fact, I was over them before mine was over.

I guess it's just the one day that is all about YOU, and your groom, (sort of), and you get to look gorgeous (I have never felt more beautiful than on my wedding day), and it's a celebration of love, and a big fun party to boot.

But, I felt like- I'm only doing this once, I want to do it up and do it right.
