Teachers work under a 185 day contract, and they aren't paid for the days when school is not in session. It's more like they are "seasonal" employees, just like construction workers, etc.
I understand that--I was talking about paid vacation in the traditional sense (i.e. work here and we will pay you x-dollars and give you 2-weeks paid vacation per year).
I was asking in that sense as a poster who was a teacher said she got a paid vacation. (hence the question time frame of "during the school year").
For our county--teachers can get paid for the school year or average it out over 12 months. I was not insinuating summer as a paid vacation.
