Swatch watches
The Cure
Whitney Houston(before she went insane)
MTV
Video Killed the Radio Star
Live Aid
Jeff Spicoli(Fast Times)
Moon Unit

Those were the days. I can't believe I'll be at my 20th high school reunion this year. Wow. Totally tubular. Grody. Gag me with a spoon.

WHAM! "Wake me up, before you go, go.."

And we all thought George Michael was (swoooooon) soooo cute...hello prancing in neon short shorts ??????

I just went to something called the Awesome 80s Prom in Chicago and it was like totally tubular. They like sooo totally had the "normal" people from the 80s and they like talked to you like they knew you... I know! Totally
Anyway, enough of the 80s talk, it's like Tony and Tina's Wedding, only 80s prom style. The performers interact with you like they know you. You become a part of the 89 Wanaget High Prom, tease out your hair, flip your polo collar up (like way up), tuck the socks in the jeans and dance to tunes of the 80s.
I know I sound like an ad but it is really fun, the walls are covered with posters and pics from the 80s. I know it's in New York and Chicago and a couple of other cities. Lots of fun for 80s freaks

I was also guilty of wearing
Guess jeans
Esprit
Outback Red shirts from The Limited were popular
Liz Clainbourne purses
The Cure!!
I just had to say you reminded me of my cousins who were such snobs that they would not be caught dead in anything that didn't say Guess or Esprit on it. And Swatch on the watches. Too funny.

:rotfl2: Knickers with argyle socks and a matching argyle sweater vest. Did anyone carry one of those purses with the wood handle that you could change out the fabric to match your outfit? Oh...did everyone have a swatch watch?

OMG, I had at least four of those purses! Weren't they called Bermuda purses or something? I was especially proud of the one that switched between black velvet and brown leather. What a fashion icon I was! (NOT!)

And yeah, I had a Swatch. A pink SCENTED Swatch, no less.

Michael J. Fox - Alex P. Keaton
Tina Yothers - yum!
Good dog, Ubu - Sit!
DeLoreans
Bartles & Jaymes wine coolers
Ozzy Osbourne - "Crazy Train"
Buick Grand Nationals
New York Seltzer-brand water
Silver Spoons
"What you talkin' 'bout, Willis?"
Twiki from Buck Rogers
Battlestar Galactica

"Boooorn in the U.S.A.!"

I was on my high school soccer team. Somebody one the team thought it would be cool to wear boxers under our shorts (so that the legs of the boxers suck out below the over-shorts). I never got THAT memo (that it HAD to be boxers), so to get that look I had an old pair of long paisley shorts that I wore underneath my soccer shorts. I was busted with the paisleys, and I remember some of the guys were ragging on me about 'wearing two pair of shorts - how stupid'. Ummm, yeah. And we all had mullets. I'm sure there's some pictures still floating around out there.

There's no CENSORED way we'll get to heaven!
We're the Class of '87!

"Tonight we're gonna party like it's 1999"

Waaay back then I remember being floored when I figured out I'd be (gasp) 30 when that magic number rolled around.

how about Small Wonder... loved that show!!!!

Party Hearty, rock and roll, drink bacardi, smoke a bowl,
Life if good, lets get our kicks,
cuz we're the class of 86!! :cool1:

I graduated from high school in 1984 - so yes that makes me 40 this year.
I went to college in the 80's and it was a great time to go to a party school (which I proudly did) and did many things I am not proud of now.

Did anyone else wear bright blue eyeliner with frosty lipstick and pearlescent nailpolish? It did go great with my pink day glow short shorts and tank top. A favorite going out to party outfit was my white leather mini-skirt with pink satin halter top. My big hair would be banana clipped up high or pouffed out really big - or maybe crimped - yikes! A short little pair of boots went right along with nicely.

Dancing to my favorite 80's tunes by The English Beat, the Go Go's, Adam Ant, Duran Duran, Wham, Madonna, Depeche Mode, Echo and the Bunnymen, Squeeze and INXS to name a few.

I was a clove smoking, day glow wearing, big hearing bouncing, dancing fool. I still miss the 80's sometimes!
I am also from the class of 84. Two more days I will be forty. Time has sure flown by! I sure wouldn't mind being eighteen again. I will take the 80's back.

ALF--the live version and the animated series
Punky Brewster the Animated Series
Beverly Hills Teens
Krispy Kritters cereal
PeeWee's Playhouse

Since we are on this topic - does anyone remember the song by Dennis DeYoung (formally of STYX) "Desert Moon" ?

And I know VH1 classic runs and 80's hour - I miss the old videos (although some were pretty CHEESY) I wish there wsa a way to purchase the videos on a DVD - I would LOVE IT!!

Me and 3 friends our hair done like John Taylor (oh for the guys, he was in Duran Duran).
Purple Rain was the homecoming theme in 1984.

Pour Some Sugar on Me
Videos were on MTV like all the time
Twisted Sister
Sister Christian (...motorin'...)
layered mini skirts w/ leg warmers (like OMG I totally saw that outfit again in a store window at the mall)
asymetrical hair (think Flock of Seagulls front man ...back when he had hair)
Depeche Mode
The Cure
Faith
Father Figure
Lil Red Corvette
Beat it
Thriller (yes he's weird now but in the 80s he was cool)
Moonwalking to Billie Jean
Pseu Pseu Psuedio (is that a word?)
Huey Lewis and the News
867-5309
Owned a copy of that book that taught you how to speak Valley Girl
Long Duk Dong
Oily Bohunk

How can we forget The United Colors of Benneton?

Pump up the volume! Pump up the volume! Pump up the volume! Put the needle to the record...

Did you ever happen to own a pair of Yo-Yos....maybe early eighties. Like the ones with the holes in in them? :rotfl:

"WHERE's THE BEEF?????"

"Ohhhhhhhhhhhhh, only in my dreams..."

Penny loafers with the bright shiny penny in them

Did anybody else TIGHT ROLL their pants?

Wearing lipstick with just enough neon pink/orange in it to showcase that killer tan

Bandanas in every color used as fashion accessories

Cut off jean shorts

Ocean Pacific and Panama Jack Tshirts

Button covers

Gloria Vanderbilt, Obsession, Liz Claiborne perfume

Polo, Drakkar cologne

and last but not least for the Ladies...

Those Fantabulous Sweater dresses that shrunk when you washed them

What a fun thread!

BTW, you've got another awesomely fine in 89 girl here

Does anybody remember that group Aha? Their video played NONSTOP on MTV, the one where the lead singer is a drawing and the girl pulls him out of the cartoon and he is turned into a 'real boy'

"Taaaaaake onnnnnnnn meeeeeee"
Take on me...

That song to me is SOOO the 80s. Must've seen the video like 1000 times.

oh we had "friendship pins" in the early 80s. They were small safety pins with tiny colored beads on them and you would pin them on your shoes. The beauty was you could make a ton so you'd have them to trade but even if you didn't trade them (didn't have friends), your shoe was full so you looked "cool" (not that I did anything like that.... :cool1: )

I personally had Purple and Black Parachute pants
Moon Boots
High top Addidas
Earrings bigger than my head
Leather Bomber Jacket

I was a kid in the 80's , so here's what I remember:

Sesame Street (WITHOUT that darn Elmo!!)
3-2-1- Contact!!!
BloodHound gang (no...not that band.. it was a short on 321 Contact)
Square 1

Double Dare
Chip and Dales Rescue Rangers
DuckTales

THUNDERCATS!!! :Pinkbounc

Karate Kat
Slimer and the Real Ghostbusters

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles!! (I used to LOVE them.. lol b4 they turned all Anime-ish  )

Ok, anyone remember this clothing accesory? I remember you that one would take and oversized tee-shirt and take the end of it and loop it through a sparkly O-ring looking thing. lol

That gorgeous lil' Johnny Depp on 21 JUMP STREET

Braided headbands worn like sweatbands

Doin' the Worm, the Centipede, the Robot, the Cabbage Patch, not to EVEN MENTION the Runnin' Man aka HAMMA TIME

to Run DMC and Ladies Love Cool James

"Egyptian Lova, Egyptian Lova Baby" :smooth:
