Inside Deluxe Midship Deck 9 vs guaranteed Navigators Verandah on Fantasy

I currently have booked an inside deluxe room midship on Disney Fantasy. I can change it to guaranteed navigators verandah for $600 more. I’m curious if anyone thinks it’s worth it. I’ve never had a verandah and would like one. I’m concerned about not getting to choose which deck it is on. And my understanding is that on the Fantasy the navigators verandahs are basically verandahs with obstructions. Thanks for your input!

For the most obstructed navigator verandah - you are still able to see the sky and water - in addition to having a place to sit outside.

It comes down to a personal preference if upgrading is worth the extra costs (in your case, is ~$100 more per day worth the benefit?) For me, I would never consider anything other than a verandah as I enjoy the natural light and fresh air - especially on 7+-night cruise.

I have stayed in rooms from deck 6 to deck 10 - I slightly prefer the lower floor rooms as they are a bit closer to the water, which for me is like sitting on the beach and watching the water as opposed to being in a hotel room looking out over the water.

Put me down as another vote for the verandah. I would definitely get that $600 worth out of sitting outside and enjoying the ocean and air. Unless there are some more obstructions I have not seen, they are never really that bad at all.

Stayed in both room types on the Dream (sister to Fantasy). Inside on deck 9 forward and navigators on deck 10 (next to bridge and that was partially blocked/limited).
For less than $100/night this is not even a conversation - go for the verandah. I would be doing this without any hesitation or regret. You will not be disappointed.

There are a couple of navigators verandahs on deck 5 that seem pretty terrible. We had the extended verandah next to one and we’re glad we didn’t have that cabin. But, for $600, I would roll the dice.

We always sail verandah cabin. We don't spend a lot of time out there but I like the additional light and airier feeling and we do spend some time on it. When you're sitting down, even if you have an unobstructed view and a clear plexiglass cover over the railing, it's still a bit hard to see out so I don't personally think you lose much by going with a Navigator's verandah. If you're standing, you can still watch the water or shoreline, you still get the fresh air and airier feeling and more light. I'd go for it.

For me, midship is more valuable than a verandah. On the fantasy, I would be worried about getting a far aft room where the vibrations keep me up at nigh, or far forward where the motion makes my seasickness worse. I also hate long walks from the elevators and like the central midship location. And while it is nice to sit out on the verandah, I don’t ever really use it much when I have one and would rather spend less money on a rainforest pass watching the ocean from there. So I would keep the inside room. But obviously as the replies show, there is not a right or wrong answer as it all depends on personal preference.

After doing some research it looks like some of the rooms can be narrowed down since we have 4 in our room. Looks like it pretty much eliminates most of deck 5.

We recently booked VGT on the Fantasy but it does not specify what type of verandah (regular or navigators) we would be assigned. We know it could be a navigators verandah but are hoping for a regular verandah. Is yours a special category?

There are 2 different types of guarantee bookings. The one you booked is a VGT - a guarantee verandah. Could be any where on the ship and is non refundable. There are also just guarantee bookings. You can book a guarantee 7A which guarantees a 7A cabin somewhere on the ship. This is like a regular booking - can use a placeholder and can cancel within the normal schedule.

If it is a budget issue, inside cabin would be fine. We have done both inside but mostly verandahs. With the verandah you can sit outside with coffee or an adult beverage and just watch the sea go by. The only verandah I would advise against is there is one on the aft of the ship, that we just saw on youtube, where the verandah was the smallest we ever saw and had a built in bench and a small table. We would prefer the inside to that one. That cabin was 5188.

If so then the OP would have cancel the original booking and rebook the *GT cabin. Those guaranteed rates with restrictions need to be new bookings only and paid in full at the time you book. You can't switch to one from a currently held booking.

If it is just a guaranteed cabin without restrictions then they can just upgrade to the new cabin.

How can you tell which staterooms are still avaialble on your particular cruise?

You can see some, though not necessarily all, of the available rooms by going to the Disney Cruise website and starting to book a room for your sailing. You will be able to select Inside/Oceanview/Veranda/Concierge, then Fore/Middle/Aft, then a deck and see rooms within that category and location.

Since you have 4 passengers - that would preclude you being assigned to the lower-floor obstructed veranda rooms as most of those only sleep 3. It is also possible that you could be given a higher-class room - on my last GTY/07A cruise we were upgraded to a 04A (Family Veranda). Before that cruise, we were assigned cabin 8164, which is a 07A, but the "obstruction" was so minor, most would not really notice it (part of the ship structure covered a small area in the upper-left side of the veranda).
