Insect repellent

Does any one have any idea if we will need insect repellent - like Avon SSS Bug Guard - in May? We will be there May 7-12.

Good to have it year-round in Florida due to the warm weather, combined with all of the water. Avon's Skin so Soft suntan lotion is a perfect choice since it also acts as a bug repelent. My wife brings it on every trip to WDW, and we've used it in July, January and April. So, it is probably a safe bet that you'll need it in May.

I was at Disney last May. I too was worried about the bugs but to be honest they were not really a problem and I don't think I came home with any bites. Anything that flies and bites usually loves me. I get entirely bit up while no one else is being bothered. Don't know if I got lucky or if FL was just low on bugs.

Never leave home without it, takes little room to pack and is a pain to look for on property. Them sand mites get alittle itching and we always pack small container of ammonia, to rub on bites to stop the itch. Pharmasist said its the main chemical in commercial stop itch reliefs and ammonia straight works better. We plan both ways, bug juice to prevent and ammonia to relieve. Main stays in our First Aid Kit.

Thanks for the tip, I will be sure to bring some ammonia. I usually get an alergic reaction to flea bites anyway, don't know about sand mites! Better safe than sorry!

When I go I always am sure to wear Avon SSS Lotion as my moisterizer. It really lasts.. then I buy the avon SSS travel packs.. they're like handiwipes but they're the insect repelent.. and I stick a couple in my purse. Even if it's not necessary I like to use lotion esp if I'm wearing shorts so it's preventative.

You can bring it if you plan on doing the hiking thing, but Disney stays on top of pests and watery areas where mosquitos might breed. In the many years I've gone, I can never remember getting bitten and I certainly know that DS5 has never been bitten, either (even on the Pirate Cruise around the Seven Seas Lagoon and Bay Lake).

Like rain ponchos you might not need it but it is best to bring it anyways.

I will be bringing the Avon bug repellent + 30 SPF sun protection lotion. $5 per bottle right now through Avon!

We always use the SSS spray and it works great!! I didn't know that the Avon SSS SPF stuff did the same.........I'll be looking into this for sure!! Thanks for the info.

We always bring bug spray but have never needed it.

Even when we go to the Epcot Flower & Garden Festival in May every year - - we never see ANY bees.

We've also never seen any mosquitos at night.
They love me back home in Maryland...maybe the Florida mosquitos don't like us.
