I am trying to determine where to draw the line on packing, and would like opinions on whether this falls under necessity or not for a cruise to the Bahamas. I want to minimize unnecessary stuff in luggage, but would rather not be eaten alive... SO, what was your experience with mosquitos and noseums (sand flies) on your cruise?

I usually never have a problem, but the last couple of times I did. On our Nov 2009 and April 2008 cruise. I usually bring some, but I did not. I did go to the little first aid station there and they had some insect repellant wipes. I don't know if they have them all the time. Both times I got bitten all along the back of my legs while waiting for the tram to go to Serenity Bay. I didn't have problems once I got to the beach.
